New feature added. News events and current headlines will be added automatically to the forum as topic discussions, appearing under Traders Hideout -> Current Events.
The purpose of this is to facilitate discussion on any hot news items. If you want to comment on a particular story, just reply to it.
There is a known problem with Albums after the new server migration. I'm working on it. 99% of you don't use this feature, but those that do, I'll get it fixed soon.
Spent a few hours, and some money in custom development (again), and re-worked the Questions and Answers feature on the home page.
It should not look (visually) any different to you. The changes were all behind the scenes. Now instead of javascript and jquery (slow), it is pure server generated html. This should speed up the loading of the home page considerably, this update was all about performance.
Please report any problems.
One day I will tackle the chatbox as well, which is the slowest part of the home page.
This problem is resolved. In order to resolve it, member profile page URL's have had to change slightly.
The different is the userid in front of the username. This had to be added. Everything will be automatic on the forum pages, but if you link to your profile page outside of nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) from your blog, etc, you'll need to update that URL.
I've purchased and installed vB Optimise. It's a suite of stuff that caches bunch of forum content and makes everything faster. One big way it does this is by turning all dynamically generated Guest pages (non-registered members) into static pages, eliminating like 20-30 SQL queries per page. This is huge time saver!
So guests will be getting page content that is up to 5 minutes stale. But whoopty-do, they should register already. All the savings will help make the site load faster for everyone else.
After it runs for 24 hours I will follow-up with how much its cut out queries down on the database server.
Hi guys. I just wanted to let everyone know that since second week of May we moved to a new server, and we've experienced multiple problems.
The reason we moved in the first place was to upgrade capacity/speed. I knew the person running the cabinet at the data center that we switched to, but unfortunately knowing him was not enough. The data center had a lot of problems and that translated into problems for us.
For the past three weeks, I've looked for a replacement data center and finally found one. I am extremely confident in the new data centers capabilities. I have tested it from over 15 places around the world and found very high performance (bandwidth).
As for hardware, I went ahead and decided to upgrade it even more, so things should be even quicker with the new server.
An approximate ETA for the migration will be June 18th. I don't plan for any more than a couple of hours downtime.
I am just letting you guys know that we are aware of a few speed issues and are working to resolve them all this time.
I've had to disable the Pop-up Private Message system due to some conflicts.
All it means is that when you click on someone's name in a post, like mine to the left, and select "Send private message" -- it will no longer just pop-up with a box for you to type your message. Instead, it will redirect to the normal vBulletin page to send the message.
I will look to fix the problem later and try to re-enable it.
I do not see this as a disadvantage, as I usually say do not pop up. But that is a preference, and if no one complains your time could be spent elsewhere.

Tonight I've begun the process of adding a very nice Wiki to our site. We have some really, really big plans for this.
It will remain behind the scenes for some time to come. I am making this announcement only because of the way the Wiki integrates with the forum, I want you to report any parts of the forum that may have broken when we installed the wiki.
We will update everyone later with more details on the wiki as we have some examples to show off. Our wiki will welcome group participation.
