I have no evidence of this but I think the market actively trades against me. This is apparent mostly at quiet times when the market is range bound. During these times after entering a position, more than 50% of the time, the market will trade lower when long and higher when short by a couple of ticks. The solution to this problem is trade when the market is moving. The attention turns from my trade and turns toward the large moves happening in the market which is when the other market participants do not care about my 1 to 5 lots.
Oil is heading lower, like below $70. China is now opening and cold weather hit the US pretty hard in the last couple of weeks. Both of these events should have sent oil +$90 but prices are hovering around $80.
The last two trading sessions I have had some deep drawdowns for my account middle of the day. Today I am taking things slow and haven't put on a trade yet. Feels like break even is a win right now.
Trading sideways choppy action usually results in getting chopped up and losses. Not looking to trade until the ES makes new lows of the day. Zero trades so far today.
I am slowly realizing that the whole point of the market is to make money off of me. The algos see me coming from a mile away with my couple of pennies in my account. It's me against the market all the way, there are no friends in the market (but there are friends on Futures IO). But that doesn't mean I won't try to make money in the market.
