Hello there,
Looking forward to participating in this forum. Hoping to learn alot and after a little while contribute too. I am not new trading or managing risk but I am new to trading futures and using technical analysis.
Very happy to be here, looks like a nice and polite community.
I have traded for 2 years (forex both the spot and the futures) with success, using PA and Vol. then stopped due family reason, now i am slowly getting the grip again.
Happy trading to all
Mike thank you so much for the constant encouragement, engagement and sharing. Thanks to everyone who shares their indicators strategies and suggestions. I was happy to contribute donations and will continue to do so on an annual basis.

The Mind Of the Market refracts in patterns on the screen, hard to read. I live by you, desire. I stand by you, walk through the fire. Your love is my scripture. Let me into your encryption.
Initiation and consolidation; macro, micro. And me, and you.
I have seen them riding seaward on the waves/ Combing the white hair of the waves blown back/ When the wind blows the water white and black. We have lingered in the chambers of the sea/ By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown/ Till human voices wake us, and we drown.
100Kelvin ladder to clime ever higher, work ever harder. Lookin for the pineal-eye.
Mike, you do great work and provide an invaluable resource. Thank you.
My name is John and I am intrigued by what few of the posts I have read.
I look forward to listening, learning, & participating in this forum.
No, I no longer live in Miami. I live near Orlando, the home of Mickey Mouse.
I have been a member of futures.io for about 90 days and am ready to interact some with the community that I believe is the best I can find for futures knowledge and questions. I’ll tell a bit about myself and the journey that landed me here as well as where I see myself going as far as trading is concerned.
Who… I am just a regular guy in Austin, TX. I am a husband, father and family man first, trader second (because I love it so much), and firefighter third as it’s my current career of almost 13 years. It is a highly competative career and I believe the only way to earn the right to move forward in any challege you take on is through time, effort and passion for what you do.
Why… I love my family and I know that there is more out there for them (as well as myself) than just the 8-5, do what you signed up for, grind; so I trade for our freedom of choice. I love trading, absolutely unequivocally love everything about it. The frustration, irritation, problem solving (problem solving I view is the one thing I might have a knack for), boringness, competition, figuring, studying, changing, growing and any other word you can use to describe trading. I believe that my passion/love for trading and the markets can provide my family with that freedom.
How… I got here. 6/12/13 I told my wife that I was going to become an investor in the financial markets as I have always been intrested in its potental and know I need to be efficient at it by the time I retire. I started in forex, lost 12k dollars while dollar cost averaging into trades. After licking my wounds I knew majors changes needed to be made. I moved from forex using FXCM to futures using Tradestation. I feel this was a huge step in the right direction. I believe I am going to make two more final changes before I turn the corner which include brokers and better execution tools.
Where… I am at now. For the first time I have been able to produce, in SIM, a profitable account with consistent wins and am ok with taking losses. This was very difficult for me but have learned to take them quickly and minimize losses as much as possible.
What… I am comfortable with short term (maybe considered ultra-short term) scalping. I make less mistakes during trade management that way and feel in sync with the markets and DoM when I trade that way. Once I realized what the DoM was telling me, I can’t seem to get my eyes elsewhere. Charts have been somewhat empty to me as I feel it isn’t showing me what I “really” need to know. I only trade the ES and CL. I am currently looking at possibly trading treasuries.
I recently had an “a-ha” moment on how the actual market works using order flow. I am now beginning to understand what makes a chart, a chart. I am also beginning to understand the order book. My current problem solving mode is now how to overcome where I am in queue and slippage so that my actual results are closer to my SIM results.
I will be adding Jigsaw this week to replace my current DOM as I clearly see the information it provides is very useful and feel it doesn’t get any more unfiltered then that as far as what is actually happening in the market.
Please feel free to direct me to information on that helps solve slippage and getting filled.
