Just recently got back into training after losing my job to downsizing. In the late 90's early 2000's I got involved in futures trading. Hate to admit it but good ole Ken Roberts was my introduction. I then studied with several other people, a former trader Dr Marty and a couple of others. Did ok but lost in the end. In 2006 I went into business for myself all to see it lost in the recession. Along with having the time to study and some capital I am now trading options and looking to trade bonds again. I used to belong to a forum called TFC, I found this one because I was looking for information on Vantage Point as their product sounds good and the hound the hell out of you.
This time around I am trading in a different style. I am more relaxed, more focused. I started a journal, it is very helpful. I am at a different point in my life now. Kids are grown, single, cut my living expenses down. Will I make it this time? I believe so, I truly enjoy it. I need it to work, I lost everything in 2010, house, business, 3 retirement accounts.
So I am going to keep learning, keep trading and see what happens.
Hi guys, I am trading futures about 1 year (daytrading) but without success that means I lost half of my account but I dont want to give up. I am using AgenaTrader as trading platform and I think into switching to BookMap, my favorite markets are FDAXM, ES, NQ, CL and Gold. I hope I can get some new ideas to improve my trading style.
So happy to join this shared forum I have a decade of experience in trading futures want to learn more about how to write a program that I believe here must find the answer
I am a trader not like the others. I heard a lot of others destroying their live account and that's why I took it very slowly when I started. As matter of a fact I traded 1 year only demo to get all the emotions out of me in terms of trading. Indeed the psychology can kill right away in trading if you don't know how to manage. At the same it helped me to refine and optimise my trading strategies to reduce the drawdowns and maintain a stable profit rate.
I've been trading for quite a while without a definitive success but mainly with the goal of keeping in touch (not only by investing real moneys but with readings, testing platfforms etc.) up to now . . . . . I'm very close to my retirement, and so in a few days I will be out of labour world forever and without the pressure of generting income for living
And hopefully if God, weather and health permits I'll have a lot of time for both learning and trading . . .
I've been interested most of the time in algorithmic trading and know well easy language (I've been a customer for some time of Tradestation and have used for some months Multicharts) Metatrader-MQL4 and others . . .
