This is a very deceptive statement. Let's break it down by the numbers; 100% accepted / working orders essentially buy/sell orders are on the servers. However only 19% of the OCO orders reside on the servers. This needs to be addressed because as soon as you disconnect from the broker servers you can lose your OCO orders.
This is not deceptive at all and there is nothing to address. Allow me to try and clarify:
- Most orders rest at the exchange
- OCO orders is not an exchange order type thus, this functionality is provided by either the broker (Interactive Brokers comes to mind) or the ISV (CQG/Continuum comes to mind)
- If a broker or ISV does not support OCO then NinjaTrader will simulate the OCO link between orders locally although the actual orders are resting at the exchange
So...
- If you are in a situation where NinjaTrader is simulating the OCO link and you disconnect from your brokerage account --> Then the orders will STILL be working at the exchange but you will lose the OCO link (until you reconnect)
- If your OCO link is provided by the broker or ISV and you disconnect from your brokerage account then your OCO link is not lost
The reality is...
- Orders are at the exchange and any disconnect from your account will not adversely impact these orders
- The large majority of our clients use an ISV or broker that supports OCO thus a disconnect has no adverse impact on the OCO link
In one of your "introductions" to the fabled NT8 you said "it will definitely be out before end 2014". Today is in fact past that date.
I am waiting patently, but grow agitated at the prolonged release of NT8 Beta. Any update on the release? I even opened a brokerage account for the sole reason of getting my hands on NT8 Beta as soon as possible; now wondering if that was a mistake.
I know that you are most likely not prepared to release a set date as of yet, but any general time-frame would be appreciated before I seek other alternative methods for automating my trading. I am sure I am speaking for a large number of your faithful NT users.
On a side note has anyone played around with Multi-Charts.Net it uses C# similar to NT, with a low learning curve converting code to it. Backtests are even done on tick by tick basis, which is a sour spot for me with NT.
This post is not meant to be a bash on NT, I love the product and have several Life-time licences, just getting tired waiting for progression of the platform as so many of the competitors are bypassing NT.
Cheers,
SodyTexas
