Many of you may know of vision boards. The idea is to find visual representations of goals you are working toward and add these pictures to a board and spend time each day meditating on it and seeing each goal as a realized reality in the present - complete with as much sensory input as you can muster- touch taste feeling, strong positive emotions.
You saturate each visualization with the deep colour of strong emotion - actually making it come alive in your mind - experiencing it as fully and as intensely as possible.
Embue it with joy, satisfaction, pride of accomplishment - living the future fully NOW.
Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy"[1] or as "the way of harmonious spirit
Ueshiba envisioned aikido not only as the synthesis of his martial training, but as an expression of his personal philosophy of universal peace and reconciliation.
In the lessons there is the idea of grounding or connecting to the energy of the adversary.
You connect and redirect it, You actually use his strength to your direction.
The other day I had the idea of using this concept in trading.
I didn't write it down at the time and it has slipped just off the edge of recall...
In the first lesson the instructor asked; "Did we wanted to see some magic"?
Yes!
---
We did some exercises with energy. The last was "Immoveable mountain".
A person stands on each side of you and you stand with arms down by yours sides and locked.
First with your center of being "in the top of your bead" - normal state they try to life you and can easily do it.
Next you center your being and connected it rooted deeply into the center of the earth.
When ready you nod that you are ready.
I was standing doing this centering - trying to ground strongly.
the instructor standing on my right and holding my right arm (the strongest girl on my left)
said" Oh he's ready" -before I nodded!
Then they tried to lift me.
The girl couldn't raise her side - even the slightest.
The instructor only an inch or so.
Even more amazing that their inability to lift me was, to me, that the instructor could sense I was ready through the contact!
I was chatting about blue moods and getting oneself out of them.
Often we focus on what is wrong/missing and not on what is right/having, which makes sense in the hierarchy of needs. If we haven't slept that's what we need, haven't eaten we are hungry, cold seek warmth etc. When we have these and the other basic needs met we can more on to other areas.
What do we do when we can't meet our needs but still want to control our mood lifting it from depressed to positive?
Sometimes we can't in one go.
some ideas - make a list of all our strengths abilities, gifts, accomplishments and good things we have done and have done for others. Be generous. Put aside your critical nature - do it in the way a loving and generous and supportive friend would. (sure we have our weakness and areas for improvement - keep those for later).
e.g.
I am intelligent.
I am a good person.
I care for others.
I am considerate.
I am honest
I am trustworthy.
I am reliable and dependable.
etc. etc.
This technique is for getting you to middle ground or neutral.
1. throw your arms to the sky and shout YES! YES! YES! forcing a smile on your face as you do.
repeat 3 times or more
--Jack Canfield (I think)
2. looking in a mirror (if possible) force a big smile on your face and say:
"I'm great! I'm great!I'm great!"
then have a laugh at yourself - go ahead no-one is watching
Here are some thoughts on actualizing the idea of visualization === > manifestation.
(I have not achieved this, rather I am speaking here of a distillation of many books and other inputs)
(This was prompted by a great PM.)
How do I develop the belief I deserve success, love, joy happiness and abundance.?
1. Paint a picture in words of yourself with abundance, love, joy happiness and abundance.
(Include all the key points and enough specific detail such that if someone else was to wave a wand and create it for you you wouldn't say" "Oh I didn't mean that")
2. Color your word picture with emotion.
(Imbue it. Saturate it. Joy love happiness pride of achievement -whatever combination feels right for you.)
3. Attach keywords each part of your visualization.
("Safe and secure" might be linked to you ideal home & family
"With ease and perfection" might be linked to your day trading.
etc)
4. Set a schedule for your visualization recharge times (best linked to key daily activities)
5. Set aside a time to review your achievements. Best done in handwriting in a note book
(Ten things I accomplished today. This is always in the positive.
e.g.
1. I remembered to check the momentum and reg channel before entering the trade.
2. I updated my spreadsheets.
3. I took my vitamins
4. I ate a good breakfast.
etc.
Not in the negative, so not: I did not forget to take my vitamins.)
6. Set a time to be grateful.
(Ten things you are thankful for. Best done in handwriting in a note book. This is always in the positive.)
7. Set a time for exercise.
8. Eat well - good food.
9. Drink lots of clean pure water.
10. Set a time to be quiet, centered and then think of your main activity (e.g. daytrading) with the questions:
"What actions should I take tomorrow?"
"How can I improve my results?"
let you intuition give you ideas. Turn down the volume on the logical mind and let your intuitive side speak.
-- this same exercise can be re-done again with your logical mind.
Often we have a block stopping our actualization (manifestation of our vision)
A wonderful family with two happy young girls sat at the next booth in MacDonalds
The youngest starting singing a little song quietly to herself:
"The best is me."
- a couldn't agree more. What a great way to build self-esteem.
In effect her little song to herself was an affirmation and affirmations are said to be the only way to cultivate a new belief (Napolean Hill, Chp 2 of "Think and Grow Rich")
