once again ( basically once every week ) some of Ninjas Bugs, "Features" or what else reminds me how crappy that software is,
drives me nuts!
I stay only because I fear the time effort to immigrate to another platform ( Also some cost issues )
I hold that discussion every week with myself.
For me the case is clear:
the ninja software development team is - to a very large degree - incompetent.
(thousand points to make here)
with this rotten base - the superior support of Ninja can do nothing do cure the pain.
I am in no way objective here, and I think I don t have to. I am a trader, I need a tool that is working !!!
I dont care, if it is a bug or an idiotic conceived feature or simply missing knowledge of that traders need ( or any User of software).
The most recent crap:
- Ninja's inability to have working trend-lines !!!!!!!!
- Trend line copy & paste does not work
- ray Trend lines cause huge leaks !!!
- global trend lines cause huge leaks !!
- deleting tl after x days, without asking the user !!!!
- above makes P&F notations worthless, P&F does not work anyway (they will not understand this line here anyway, because I doubt they have traders and practitioners in their team )
- inability to have precise global trend lines over different charts (5M, 10M, 45M, xxM)
Trend lines are absolute basic, a absolute necessity. Only to have to write and state this makes me angry.
What a Joke.
This is a bug, which occurs on charts with non-equidistant bar spacing and only affects European users of the software. I had communicated this bug to NinjaTrader support, and they confirmed that it will be removed with the next release. The problem might be related to some inch/cm conversion, but actually I do not know it.
(2) Global trend lines cause huge leaks !
It is technically impossible to shift a trend line - defined by two anchor points and their time stamps - from a higher to a lower resolution chart. The lower resolution chart will always display some leaks. It is not even a design feature, but you cannot retrieve the information required to draw the trendline correctly from the higher timeframe chart. The higher timeframe chart may display a low with the 9:30 bar, but on the lower timeframe chart it appears to have been 9:05. The trendline will still be anchored to the 9:30 timeline, so it will be off 25 minutes. However you can draw a trendline on the smallest timeframe chart and transfer this trendline to the larger timeframe charts. Not very practical, as you have to scroll a lot. Only solution to this problem would be to code an indicator that generates automatical trendlines. Further information and discussion here:
How come the trendline from a 4181 tick chart when put to 'global' on all charts ends up being very different then if I put it directly on say a 144 chart?
I will line up my trendline precisely on the same points and on the 4181 the trendlines …
(3) P&F charts
I do not use them, so I cannot comment on your statement.
I am not defending NinjaTrader here, but I just would like to invite you to qualify your criticism, that is to add some attachments and/or further information to allow us to deal with the problem. Also what would be your suggestions for improvement?
thank you for your reply and for
your constructive remarks.
I apologize for my emotional wordings. But I needed that release.
1.
Re "European Trend line bug":
TY - I did not know that. Of course the support also did not tell me that. They insisted a bug with trend lines was already solved.
2.
re leaks
With TL leaks I ment resource leaks.
right now I have a Ray on NQ if I make it global - the cpu goes nuts and pc becomes unresponsive
If I make it no-global again all is fine. Actually all is fine as long as I dont have the global Ray on a 1440M chart, global ray on 60m works.
You are right with the "geometric" character of TL anchors.
But I have parallel trend line channels parallel on 30m, 120m - not parallel on 90m.
freely drawn & not anchored)
3.
P&F or Not Ninja deletes TL & Notes.
The time condensing character of P&F almost always triggers the "Ninja-delete-all-Notes-barrier".
This tells me they have not thought it through. Just adding half-working features.
P&F has other issues
I am happy to share with this community here and I am thankful for the help I receive from here, like the time you took to reply.
But I already payed for Ninja and my time is too expensive to debug Ninja for Ninja for free.
I am not the first who lost its patience with Ninja. I mean even Big Mike switched.
I totally agree. I worked on a computer for 20 years in purchasing. NOTHING ELSE HUNG UP, "NOT RESPONDING", AS MUCH AS NINJA TRADER ON ANY COMPUTER THAT I'VE EVER HAD.
I have a high tech, expensive, trading computer with a solid state hard drive, and Ninja hangs up all the time.
Ninja Trader is not reliable.
I suggest contacting our support team. There is always a valid reason why a user would have performance issues. For example, badly coded custom indicators can easily bring the system to a halt. This is no fault of NinjaTrader but the downside of providing an open non-proprietary development language C#. My support team can at least isolate down the root cause.
