Hello Everyone, I just joined this forum. I trade the futures and Forex Markets with specialty in Algorithmic Trading. I am happy to be here to learn and share.
I've been trading Spot FX for 2 years now, and have decided to move on with the currency markets and begin trading futures. Been doing some research for a bit now, but need some guidance to get started....
As a Futures Trader, my aim is to trade the price ladder- scalping/intra trading. I've downloaded Trading technology platform to get myself started to understand the names of the instruments and the basics. (30 day trial)
In the mean time, I am trying to figure out which platform to use and a broker.
Also, the instrument to trade that will accommodate my capital risking 1% a day....
I've been looking into Jigsaw, sierra charts, and Trading Technology. (leaning towards Jigsaw) but not sure how to decide. like I said- my focus is trading the DOM.
In terms of a broker, I don't know what so ever. Im looking for a broker that uses the trading platform i desire to use, but most importantly one that will allow me to paper trade for some time((until i prove myself i'm profitable & consistent with my strategy for about 3 months)) before making my deposit: this deposit will consist of $5,000-$10,000.
Lastly, Im also looking for some guidance, a mentor, like I said...
I would greatly appreciate some replies on the questions I have, so i can get into more Depth on what to focus on.
PS.
I love trading. I understand it will take time, practice, & a lot of discipline (which I have)... Im dedicated to this industry and ready to venture off into the futures market.
Thank you for all who read this! I'm glad to be part of this community!
As a Canadian I can tell you gaining access to Futures market isn't even possible - little known fact the Ontario Securities Exchange (OSE) does not allow it. This should be changed but smart people figure things out for themselves. So rather than jumping up and down, I have opened a US C Corp - and US Broker account.
I am grateful to found this forum and appreciate the tone that Mike has set here.
I've been a member for a few years but never got around to introducing myself. I've been trading on and off for the last 19 years or so as my day job and other responsibilities allow.
In 2012 I switched from various options strategies on stocks to selling options on futures and never looked back. The Selling Options on Futures and Diversified Option Selling Portfolio threads with ron99, myrrdin and so many other members have been amazing. The community feel in those threads has been great too during some of the downdrafts we've all gotten caught in.
2019 is looking like I'm finally going to have more time to trade and I'm looking forward to being more active. I greatly appreciate this community, Big Mike for founding and guiding it, and the many resources available here.
I am glad to be here; I've been trading futures for a while and not consistently profitable; I lost more than winning mainly due to my indiscipline of NOT taking losses as early as possible. I've got to a point of giving up, but each time I review my trades I realize that my weakness is the 'acceptance' of being wrong. I've decided to work on this since there's no indicator for 'indiscipline' I need to work on my emotions. I long to learn and share as I participate here.
Well as many of you before me, I was always amazed by the world of Financial markets and by Trading particularly!
I started by trading Forex, dreaming of robbing the bank of England on day
Anyway after many humble experiences, I decided the only big secret to have a chance at succeeding is in fact no secret at all. It is simply by working really hard and researching everything I can find.
So years later I stumbled on this forum after a link from a search on google. And then my jaw dropped.
As FuturesTrader71 would put it , I entered the second stage of the learning process which is: Conscious Incompetence.
So here I am excited about the big adventure ahead of me. Which will be accelerated thanks to futures.io
The reason why I joined this forum is to learn as much as I possibly can about Futures trading so that I may make it my primary source of income. I look forward to sharing my journey with you all.
