Thanks for sharing your story. If you are starting now with trading, a word of caution:
There are many people who approach trading with the idea that, because they don't seek much, they anticipate that it should be relatively easy to get an extra little income from it.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Anyone starting should expect long periods of losses before even having the slimmest chance to start gaining some consistency.
It is very much like any other business, and most businesses anticipate the initial few years ending up in the red.
I don't mean to scare you away, I just want to provide some early clarity.
In any case, I trust you will find a friendly and supportive community here. Good luck.
Hi Team,
My Name is Bharadwaj. I am from Bangalore India. I have been working on Investment systems since 2006. I have theoretical familiarity with Financial Instruments. I am interested in being a part of this community to enhance my knowledge and understanding on Financial instruments, through shared experience. I am also keen to share my learning along this journey of interactions.
I liked the way I was prodded to introduce myself on this forum. I am sure, the benefits will outnumber my expectations.
I would also like to state my interests here -
1) Trades modelling - analysis such as modelling, market timings, market microstructures.
2) Data management - for trading data is of utmost essence. How to get the data and the most accurate sources of data. Data is also expensive, want to learn how to beat the costs.
3) Trading flows - where and how much money flows are happening. What are the various sources of liquidity and funds movements.
4) Systems and technology - Programming languages such as Python, R, Matlab are the popular ones. I am sure there are more hidden gems.
5) Any new developments in terms of financial engineering, big movers and shakers in the financial world.
Thank you team
Regards
Venkata Bharadwaj Vedula A N
Fortunately, as I said, my most basic needs are taken care of, so I do have the luxury of time. I'm also quite familiar with the processes of gains and setbacks when it comes to the concept of growth as a whole. I may have been physically flattened for the last several years, but my mind and my spirit were quite active.
So, don't worry, love. I don't scare easily.
I'm one of those rare individuals who actually enjoys even the harshest learning experiences because the value of that knowledge is worth the price to me.
(read as: I've seen some tough times)
HOWEVER!!! - being here - and really taking my time reading the stories of others and learning from their mistakes before I make my own? Also, learning from their successes as well?
I'm just really happy that I found a good community to belong to.
Hi, I ended up on this forum when I googled "what are best futures for swing trading". I was so impressed with the quality of help given to a participant who had asked that same question that I signed on.
I daytrade the ES at present but I would like to also try swing trading. The overnight drawdown can be pretty frightening, though. I believe that micro minis are now being offered for S&P and others. Maybe that is the way to tiptoe in. Not sure if I should stick with S&P or if I should "diversify" with some other instrument.
Started studying trading two months ago, with the end goal of being a day and swing style of trader.
I've been focused on the TA side, with price action resonating with me.
I'm finding valuable information on these forums so far, if anyone would link me some threads that would be of interest to me- I'd appropriate it greatly!
Hello All,
I am a trader from Southern California. I have participated in the markets for over 30 years, meaning I have bought and sold stocks predominantly for my retirement account. I retired from my regular day job in 2016 and started day trading stocks in 2017. My strategy was mostly the gap up at the open on select stocks, in and out in about an hour. I had minimal success overall.
In 2018 I introduced my youngest daughter (a freshman at the local JR college) to the opportunities open to people who are financially literate and astute by taking her to the Online Trading Academy (OTA) 3 day market timing course. Basically a 3 day sales session. We enrolled together and have completed their "Core Strategy", Futures, and Options coursework together.
I opened accounts for each of us w/TD Ameritrade in January of this year and we started trading futures and options. We learned that class work on a simulator and actually watching your real account dwindle are very different beasts. Can be stressful. I am hoping to learn from real world from traders independent of OTA (we are a part of their community).
BTW if anyone has access to the OTA pro-picks.... I have done better trading contrarian to their recommendations than actually following them.
Look forward to the sharing in the community.
Hi guys
Just want to say hi and introduce myself. I am Sergei and originally from New Zealand. I have self-studied the markets for about 9 years now, and have had lots of ups and downs, but have got an incredibly successful trading approach which I am ready to implement. I will be starting a thread about my journey and hopefully few people can learn from it.
The system has been trialled and tested to bits, and its not my own system. Its a trading style rather, which uses price action and the way it reacts to the market, or rather markets reacts to that price level. With my knowledge and the trading style, I make $100 every single day, trading sp 500 and nq only, with 1 contract on for 8 ticks and second added only if I need to break-even a position. I have records to show the results for the last 5 years, in real time, not some back testing, although will not be disclosing anything at all.
I will start an account with 2000 USD only and trade it to 50% return or better , week on week.
Simply want to show that it can be done, and with strict money management and discipline, successful traders can be made. I think there is a lot of hype out there about traders loosing their money, and although a lot of it is really true, there are some of us traders, who really, just hide in the shadows and know that there is money to be made from the futures markets, and I am very thankful they exist. Wish all traders a successful and happy trading week.
I will be starting a trading thread from tomorrow, as today is a holiday, if anyone wants to join me and add ideas, share trades together. Thanks and wish everyone happy trading days ahead
