Glad to have you here, gmftrs. Successful options and futures traders are primarily risk managers and that gives us a lot in common. At least some of us do both -- options and futures. If you don't already know about Don Kaufman and TheoTrade, I encourage you to check them out and I welcome any helpful recommendations from you.
Type "Options" into the search bar on this website. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with all that pops up -- lots of options threads on futures.io!
God speed your trading!
Jeff
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I consider myself a beginner after nine years of very patchy trading starting as a client of someone who made recommendations and executed the trades for me to trading independently but again using someone else's recommendations, entries and stops.
I have been up and down half a year's wage and finally realise I have to start over as a day trader using a much smaller position size in order to keep my emotions under control.
I discovered a phrase that really appealed to me : "The unforced rhythms of grace" - and I have promised myself I will not allow trading to disrupt the unforced rhythms of my daily life as a semi-retired happily married man.
My favourite trading books are "The Inner Voice of Trading" by Michael Martin, "Trading your way to Financial Freedom" by Van K. Tharp, and "Trading as a Business" by Dick Diamond. My favourite author of these three is Dick.
I would really appreciate further reading suggestions, and I am looking froward to reading your thoughts and experiences.
I'm new here. I've been trading spot fx and crypto for a while, now i'm into futures, mostly mes and mnq. Looking forward to contribute to the community.
I have come to realize I am my own worst enemy...
Analysis is right, indicators support analysis, but i always mess it up somehow.
Have traded and have had some success, then blown up acct, and then not gotten paid b/c someone else blew up acct.
I have seen enough violent short covering rallys to make me think there is one around every corner...another rally just ensued as I am typing this
When im on, Im on, and when i m off im off.
My first trade of the day seems to dictate the rest of the day for me...
I had a mentor whom I traded with on the floor, which made a world of difference...my equity had a consistent positive slope....thats when another trader blew out the acct...no joy!
After being on the floor for 12 years as either a clerk/broker/trader I decided it was time to leave...
And now I am back...
Looking for another mentor to help put it all together.

Getting back to trading (SIM) after 2 earlier failed attempts with real money. Lucky to have this forum this time. Hope to learn and incorporate the basics.
@sadago and @sorrycat, welcome to the community. As a relatively new trader myself, I can assure you you're in a good place. If you are already trading, sim or real, start a journal here. It helps your trading and helps other members engage with you. Ask questions and be open to answers and suggestions. Nobody here knows everything, but there are plenty of folks here who know a lot.
Most of all, good luck with your trading!

There is no path to happiness. Happiness is the path.
Started with FX CFD brokers. Found my groove in spot crypto and have been trading just the most liquid derivatives of xbt this past year or so and SPY options exclusively.
Now i'm looking for a low cost broker to start 'legacy' options with. Have my eye on bunds and stoxx for now. Might hit some US treasuries from there.
