The link for my tweaked VPA study for TOS is in post #73 above. I don't know of a VSA Volume Indicator. That doesn't mean that one doesn't exist, only that I don't know of its existence.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I just can't get my volume to look like yours....I don't have the VSA_Volume indicator as shown on your POST #76 and I don't get any arrows on the price.
Do you have "Colors as Symbol Ticks" selected in Chart settings: Appearance? If not, the volume colors won't track the candle colors. Again, the VPA study with which we're working doesn't use a "VSA_Volume indicator." It uses the standard TOS volume chart as noted previously in my Post #80:
I didn't change anything in the original code regarding volume. The study uses the TOS volume chart and doesn't have one of its own. The matching of volume colors to candle colors is done by TOS if "Colors as Symbol Ticks" is selected in Chart settings: Appearance. If "Preset Color" is selected the Volume Bars will be colored in one color only and won't follow the colors of the Candles.
I see that the Original Code is from Karthik who wrote the code for Amibroker in his blog for VPA-Volume Price Analysis (Price,Volume, Spread) and then Prtester translated the Amibroker code to Ninjatrader Script and posted it in the Ninjatrader Forum, but I don't see either of them making a reference to any publication that they used as a guide to develop their programming.
Also, it occurs to me that maybe you don't have Show Volume checked in your Chart Settings window. I don't have TOS open right now so I don't remember exactly where that setting is but you'll know it when you see it.
I didn't see any instructions in your legend for the color coding of the volume or price bars. Unless I read it incorrectly, it seems that the legend only applies to the symbols. I've only found one other legend for the indicator and that is at the NinjaTrader Forum and that doesn't refer to bar colors either. Do you know anything about this?
The indicator makes no use of empty and filled bars, only the color itself. The colors were taken from the NT version and are used to describe the long term, short term and mid term trend:
green - short term up, mid term up, long term up
light green - short term up, mid term up, long term down
lime green bar - short term up, mid term down, long term down
red bar - short term down, mid term down, long term down
lime green bar - short term down, mid term up, long term up
orange bar - short term down, mid term down, log term up
yellow bar - anything not matching the above.
