"lousy $600 when you finally get it will be less than $72 per month and not equal to congressmen allowance to children
...
when you receive your lousey $600 it will be added to the $13 million to build and Interpreative Dance Center in Libya"

Let's weaken, crush and destroy what has taken many people a lifetime to build such as their small business. For what? A virus that has a 99.99% recovery rate. No, let's not!
Listen up all lockdown supporters!
You have your stay at home work capabilities. It SEEMS that you are happy with anything that increases your OWN personal chance of not getting this flu.
As long as you are ok, then you are very happy with these stupid measures.
When you deny another person to make ends meet or deny a landlord from collecting his rent it is called:
Theft.
That's right! Inslee, Newsom, Cuomo make policy (not legislators) that make it possible for people to be ROBBED of their livelihoods.
People's life energy and dedication wiped out and have their personal wealth transferred to those who the governors say can stay open.
As long as they don't steal from you, then you are happy.
If you don't understand any of this, I suggest that you go back to high school and have the math teacher explain to you law of probabilities.
It is unconscionable to burden the 99.99% because of the status of .01%.
Yes, do address their need! Don't destroy the lives of the healthy.
Kiss the life you have known goodbye.
Take the money you are earning and go out and give it to those who suffer due to the policies that you endorse!
Ps. It saddens me to see the beautiful state of Ca. to have a man at the helm that is crushing many many household's income. It's great for those that telecommute. No sweat off of their backs.
The bottom line is that adults will reap the consequences of their actions. Ca. residents will have to feel much more pain as a whole before they realize the current policies are not beneficial to the citizenry as a whole.
And if you stand behind your decision, then be willing to NOT have someone else bail YOU out!
This story reminds me of taking some selected individuals drivers licenses away for a period because .01 % of drivers were killed in a car accident.
What justification is there for governments picking winners and losers?
You may be of the select few that are spared, but don't assume that you will be spared forever. At that point you can reflect on your past beliefs and see if your thoughts were wise or not.
All points of view are welcome on futures.io if their expression stays within the forum's rules for mutual respect and civility. Within these rules, disagreements can actually be productive. However, any post that becomes personal toward another member can overstep these lines.
In your post, quoted above, you address another member, @aquarian1, with "If you bothered to pay attention to international news..." and end with "BUT WAHHH, it doesn't fit this narrative of evil power hungry government."
Both the responses of different governments to the covid crisis and prop 13 in California are issues where different people can come down on different sides, and your view on each of them is just as worthy of being expressed here as any other view. But making it personal about another member is not.
In the future, please confine yourself to disagreements on the substance of a question, rather than directing personal remarks toward another person. We need to ensure that futures.io remains a place where disagreements remain civil, in contrast to much of the internet.
Thanks.
Bob.

As we move deeper and deeper into My Police State - dissenting voices are quashed. Sadly mass media has firm control of the minds of the masses. No different that G Orwell's 1984, a classic book which I suggest all who haven't read it, to take the time and do so.

"This could not be more Orwellian. ..
[This is] a direct assault on the First Amendment. Only approved speech can now be published.
...
I will fight this cancel culture with everything I have."
"Oh how I love Big Government! I love how there is not a tax they don't try to levy. I love that many of their employees can realize incomes, benefits and retirements that those who actually worked their butts off in the private sector will never enjoy yet had the privilege of funding via excessive taxation.
Don't you just love paying a measly $6000.00 for a building permit? Oh, you want to add a little change? Great! Now we can pay for new engineering and another permit. I am so glad to part with my hard earned money so I make make a small contribution to their office as they can't quite seem to ever have enough funds.
I love how smart state and federal governments are. They have this wonderful talent of spending money they don't have. Cool! Hey, that sounds just like the folks that run up their credit cards. They are smart too. Yes, we should put all our backing behind our state and federal governments (of course not that nasty, divisive, racist, riot inciting and treasonous soon to be ex-leader of the "free world"). They only have our best interest at heart. Why! They even give our friends free needles. And finally they are going to sock it to those phony hard working tax payers by letting the poor addicts be free from prosecution for harmless things like robbery, assault and rape. Because you know, their lot in life made it impossible for them not to do those things.
I most dearly love that our government can make decisions for everyone and they don't have to even use reason, statistics nor math. How cool is that? There is hope for me yet. I'm not very smart. Maybe, I can get a good position in government. I'd fit right in.
I'm so glad that they are going to punish wage earners, children and retirees with lockdowns, school closures and close misc. businesses because those people are the 99.99% who are not getting the corona. After all, I might be the .01% that would catch it and get feeling ill. I love that the government has MY personal best interest at heart. I will gladly cause undo duress upon the masses in order to keep me SAFE.
It tickles my heart that the police are manhandling Grandma next door because that evil woman had the audacity to step out into her front yard to pick her tomatoes and beans AND she was not wearing a mask! Heaven forbid!
I am so proud of Reagan. He lovingly said, "I'm from the government and I am here to help"! See! They have our best interest at heart and are so very virtuous.
I will sign off now, so I can ponder how wonderful it is to have such sound government these days!".
We are living Orwell’s 1984. Free-speech no longer exists in America. It died with big tech and what’s left is only there for a chosen few.
Twitter bans accounts of
retired L.T. Gen. Michael Flynn and attorney
Ron
attorney Sidney Powell, as part of a crackdown on accounts engaging in 'harmful activity.'
As the purge accelerates, color us not so completely stunned that Google has just suspended Parler from its Play Store:
Apple is currently threatening to ban Parler -- the free speech alternative to Twitter
The ayatollah, and numerous other dictatorial regimes can have Twitter accounts with no issue despite threatening genocide to entire countries.
"In China, no dissent is allowed and one political party runs everything on a permanent basis.
When the United States was established, government was really the only major threat to free speech. In early America, corporations were severely limited in size and scope, and that is because our founders were determined not to let them get too big or too powerful.
n the old days, if you wanted to express yourself you could grab a soapbox and head down to a local street corner. The reason why we use the term “marketplace of ideas” today is because people literally used to gather in marketplaces and town squares and exchange ideas with one another.
In our time, the Internet has become the place where we all gather to exchange ideas, but unfortunately control of all of the most important gathering spaces is in the hands of a very small group of colossal tech corporations.
Parler will likely go offline for “a while” Sunday evening given Amazon Web Services’ decision to suspend the upstart social media platform
I was absolutely stunned when I heard that had happened.
These people are not playing games.
Cancel culture is not good for our society. If everyone with viewpoints that are not “politically correct” is eventually “canceled” we will have a society that looks a whole lot like communist China.
in the United States we are not supposed to silence opposing viewpoints that we do not like. Instead, we are supposed to strive for victory in the marketplace of ideas by showing that our viewpoints are better.
Unfortunately, the big tech companies have decided that millions of Americans should no longer be allowed to participate in the marketplace of ideas
Needless to say, if we stay on the path that we are currently on there is no future for America.
Without free speech, the system of government that our founders established simply won’t work.
In China, no dissent is allowed and one political party runs everything on a permanent basis.
America appears to be heading in the same direction, and there are millions of people in this country that are actually quite thrilled that this is happening."
