The suggestion to be able to drag a tab to another window is a very good idea. The tabs are great, but managing them could still be improved on. As it is, you can duplicate a tab within a window, or you can open a new window with a duplicate of a tab on it, but you can't just move a tab to an existing window, or duplicate it in an existing window, which would do the same thing.
However, this thread has not been visited by anyone from NinjaTrader for some time, although it got more activity from them a couple of years ago.
I think you would have better luck in getting the attention of someone at NinjaTrader by posting directly to their support website here: https://forum.ninjatrader.com/index.php.
I just went through it, and you're right. I was under the impression that you could just record any sequence of keystrokes/mouse clicks and then assign it to a hotkey, but that's not what they did when they designed this. You have to pick one of the pre-defined actions they provide in the HotKey window, and you can only assign your hotkey to one of those.
I am disappointed; I thought I had understood that you can create your "own custom action," as you said, and assign a hotkey to it, but you can't. You've got to stay with the actions they have pre-defined as available.
Rats.

Now I understand your original point: Since they have a hotkey already for everything else on the Drawing Tools menu, they should have one for Drawing Objects and Remove All Drawing Objects too. I don't see a way to get it there unless if NT adds it, since it's not available as a custom hotkey.
This might also be a request for the NT support website.
Another suggestion for tab improvement is to eliminate the "X" removal icon from the tab face and instead put "remove" in the drop-down menu. Many times, I have accidentally hit the X and lost my chart....Curse.
A keystroke replicator accessible by hot-key would be handy tool for NT to add.
Modifying a property within a UI box is a chore when done frequently. I am always switching the data series "trade markers"
and "centered" property on and off.
There are a number of keystroke tools that can be added to Windows 10. One that comes to mind is KeyText. KeyText: keyboard macro with Windows automation
I have used it for many years but does cost around $30. There is a free trial period.
Hello,
some one created a drawing tool called ExtendableLine (not sure where i got it from) which i have added to this post. It has some neat features such as the following
1. Duplicate -- Love to have this feature added to all existing drawing tools
2. Horizontal Start -- Excellent and use it all the time.
3. Load Template -- Excellent and use it all the time.
... and other neat features
The real neat thing about this indicator is i can access the various templates in a real smooth process by Clicking on the line-->Right Clicking mouse -->Load Template --> then Click on required template a 4step process to load the required template.
Where as in NT8 default drawing tools for selecting the required template i got to go through Double Click the drawing- (window opens)->Select Template -->Load (window opens) -->select the required template -->load-->then APPLY it a 6 Step process
On paper it is only a addition of two steps, but in reality it seems long as it has to open and close popup windows where as for the other attached indicator it a smooth fast process and is definitely more efficient
I would love to see the same feature adopted on to the native NT8 drawing tool properties if possible.
