„Trading for Living“ is my project I started 3 years ago fulltime.
My first trading experiences I had 1987 at age 16 buying stocks and some optionlike assets (leveraged certificates) based on something I called my Technical Analysis to hold positions for some days. Before the 87Crash I stopped trading with overall profits and concentrated in the following decades on school, university (Maths, economics) and a corporate career in Germany.
After a restructuring in the company I worked with I got the opportunity (Time & Money) to start something new. „Why not to live on day trading ?“. 6-12 Months that should be a good timeframe to get the Trading business up and running profitably, I thought.
„How dare you !“ an experienced trader will now answer and he is allright.
Before that I thought my PhD in Mathematics was difficult, but now I know that to become a profitable day trader is the real challenge in my life and that I need more time than 12 months.
At the beginning I tried out a lot: Attending a trading Guru seminar, buying a system, researching forex trading systems, developing own trading systems with all sorts of indicators. Result: a lot of experiences but no sustainable profits.
End of 2018 I changed my approach completely: I studied Al Brooks Price Action Theory Books and his Trading Course and went through it several times. Bret Steenbarger books („Daily Trading Coach“) and Mike Bellafiori („One good Trade“) were quite important for me as well.
All time I traded real money. Fortunately I decided to trade CFDs only (I am based in Europe and here there are big and serious CFD-Brokers). My Futures account I did not use until now. With CFDs I can trade DAX,S&P for 1 EURO per point, so there was no chance for me to get my account broken with all the initial losses.
Currently I am trading the DAX in the morning for 2 hours and S&P in the afternoon for 3 hours. Most days I am profitable and increasing the position size and the number of trades ( I am supercritical eliminating 4star signals and waiting for 5stars) is my current To Do.
My wife is Daytrading DAX as well which is a big plus in many ways.
Futures.io is a great place. Thanks to Big Mike and everybody who supports this community.
My name is Dion from Michigan. I am new to futures trading, but not the market. I have read a few books on commodities and technical analysis and am ready to get started. Thank you Mike for starting the site.
YES, its THAT artfldgr... i have had this moniker for over 25 years and few masqerade as me... like few call themselves cher... i am all over...
but anyway... I am not new to stocks, but i am new to this board..
I had just lost my job of 15 years and trying to move into more advanced trading to earn a living

my profession? depends. i have been a fashion photographer (not much any more) doing fashion week

hoping to find another gig... but alas, i am over 50... and alas, my existence lowers diversity (so i am told)
i would pay to be an elite member, but sadly, my family/wife comes first, and cant till i make some lucre
she is indonesian.. though we do make a very tiny bit selling kopi luwak on amazon.. (anyone interested?)
I have lots of stories to tell, and many many battle scars...
currently, i am working on trying to get TOS thinkscript working right...
i have a post already on it... but sadly... no answers..
recently i DID write a monte carlo simulation to show how certain percentages perform
ie... while you may have a 50% hit rate, odds dont come out smoothly given runs
it was an interesting exercise for AON (all or nothing) trading.
that is.. you have a fixed stop, a fixed limit above the buy, and fixed number of shares
it was VERY helpful to see what mechanics really counted, vs what didn't..
hope someone writes back in some form..
kind of lonely here in the dark..
My name is Marco and i live in Italy.
I started Trading 1 year ago reading a lot of books and watching a lot of Youtubr Videos. I started with Forex using SMA’s, EMA’s, MACD... and 1 month ago i started learning Futures (starting with ES & CL).
I made this change because i was interested in Footprints, how they works and how to trade with them.
I’m here because i want to learn new things and also for talk with others.
I found this forum a while back but ignored it. I wish I wouldn't have.
Since then, I've followed the predictable path of blowing up TWO brokerage accounts and NOW I'm "scared" to lose any more money so when I do have good set-ups, I either talk myself out of them or I'm paralyzed.
I'm working my way through these issues and I hope to learn a lot from people who've "been there".
I’m very interested in trading but have blown up two accounts. I truly believe I am not the type of person who can watch a trade and day trade in the true sense. I am more of a swing trader as well as position trader. I starting my journey of trading by day trading stocks and had some success at first. ($12,000 week). Followed by $25,000 loss and then I turned to online trading academy for teaching and support only to give more money away to education and to the market by over trading and revenge trading my account away: now I trade 1-2 times per year after a deep sell off in the equities. I’m simply buying a few contracts of ES or NQ and holding until all time high is reached again. This year I sold too early but reported a profit for my first year. Considering my account was small I think a 50% return is respectable. I do hope one day I will be able to trade better but for now I am simply looking for the swings to the downside and buying until they return to normal.
I was turned onto this site by someone who I contacted while trying to build my own algorithm to trade with. I’m very interested in finding algorithms to follow predefined strategies so I can take my emotions out of the picture when trading. I Am interested in getting to know more traders who have a good breadth of knowledge to share and love to teach others and share stories of amazing trades.
