I would appreciate user comments on their top 5 end of day data feeds.
I am considering a change from day-trading as a hobby to day-trading as a business, so I would prefer to have ideas for business use too please, plus costs involved.
I use Yahoo at present for personal use as this is free.
Many thanks
Jack
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I assume since end of day, you are only interested in equities. You also didn't specify whether or not the data feed needs to deliver news stories or not.
The only two I have experience with are IB and IQfeed. With IB, just keep in mind the data feed is "not the best" but for end of day analysis I am sure it is more than sufficient, plus IB is a good equities broker.
If you are looking at other brokers like Lightspeed or MBT or some other low cost equities broker then they will also come with their own data feed, which is almost certainly good enough for an end of day trader.
You didn't specify what trading platform you use. If you use NinjaTrader, MultiCharts, Sierra Chart, MarketDelta or Investor/RT and want the best data feed you can get, that would be DTN IQfeed.
I only require data. News or other information is not necessary as it is sourced elsewhere.
I am considering all markets. Equities is a useful example but not my only opportunity.
I was looking for independence from an online broker really as it would require different analysis methods if a broker was replaced. Initially, Bloomberg was an idea but it seems costly for my purposes. I am evaluating my charts each evening and trading the following day. Intraday feeds are not required yet but the purpose of my inquiry is to assess feeds for use during the day when I turn this hobby into a business. As such I see end of day trading as a useful training vehicle.
I don't use a trading platform as they appear to be mainly charting software. However, I am always looking.
Thank you for the ideas and comments about IQFeed. That is useful and I will investigate further. Clearly IB is not satisfactory.
I think the forum is great and look forward to contributing.
I think maybe your question is bit confusing , daytrading being in and out same day will require live realtime data , where as you are asking about eod data, if you are looking for which broker and platform to use ? or just data to feed to a certain platform realtime ? or just eod data
if just eod data End of Day Stock Quote Data and Historical Stock Prices if you have your own platform i think they also have a commercial feed for self made platforms , haven't used it but they have been around for a while
for live feed I have tried a few over the years and iq feed has worked best for me , though it's an extra expense if you have good broker feed
I would recommend trying different feeds with free trials and comparing for your own needs
