I find CQG on AMP is almost unusable, on the softs and grains the DOM is often wrong and the time & sales are incorrect. When I say ofter, I mean every day I traded with them. Their customer service never replies to my questions so I gave up on them.
I use CQG at a different broker ( in addition to TT ) and it has been great. So I think each brokers implementation affects the quality of CQG. I would recommend CQG, but not on AMP.
hi Traderwerks
Your comments were most interesting, I had no idea that there time & sales are incorrect, perhaps because I have nothing else to compare their prices to since I am only trading with them so if the prices are wrong then I would have no idea. Most of my questions are software related and with that I must admit they are excellent, they will do a remote access and spend whatever time is necessary to fix the issue.
I am curious to know who you would recommend. So far I have been trading the S&P but wil be trading grains and soft commodities soon
I personally like the guys at AMP, but after I switched from Zen Fire to CQG I could not trade with them. I have TT & Rithmic feeds also and I compared my TT feed with theirs.
I set up two DOMS , both running NinjaTrader and then I sent them side by side screen shots ( One running over RPP so both were on the same screen capture ) of their CQG and TT on another screen and they were different. The DOM showed different sizes and the time & sales had different trades. The last price was always correct, but other stuff was not.
I sent them the screen shot and followed up with them in a couple of emails, but nothing to fix the problem so I stopped trading with them. This was in the grains, the indexes seemed to work fine. I guess it depended on what you traded.

Thanks very much for sharing that information with me, I really appreciate it. You certainly do have an edge by running multiple data feeds through different brokers, making it easier for you to observe the differences in prices. Is your primary platform Ninja Trader. I am running Ninja Trader but in the process of switching to Multicharts as soon as I have become familiar with the platform
Tradewerks, CQG is run as a hosted model. There is no difference between FCM's. All hardware is located within CQG, all internet connectivity is managed by CQG. If you have any issues please send me a private reply with your phone number and I will gladly discuss this.
Information is only good if it is correct.
I trade the GC contract, which is very fast and sometimes thin. I have found that my orders get filled with CQG with maybe a tick or two slippage, but Rithmic I was getting alot of slippage, sometimes at much as 10 ticks.
I really really like the R-Trader platform, but can not put up with that kind of slippage. In talking with the Rithmic guys, they said that all orders are sent to the exchange and the platform shows that stop market orders are sent right away. But for some reason I get slippage on the same exact order types sent to Rithmic vs CQG. I gave up trying to figure out why and use CQG Trader for my daytrading on gold. I just really hate how I can not setup multiple targets with the bracket order in CQG. Am I missing somthing? Is there a work around?

Maybe somebody can give me their opinion on this older post of mine. I'm in the process of getting a full service broker and using a platform to learn how to trade on my own.
There are several platforms available for me to use but only the simplest of them are free. My account is sort of Broker assisted so I can trade on my own with help from the broker so that I can learn. My Platform choices are
1 CQG intergrated client- have to pay
2 CQG Q-Trader-- have to pay
3 RJO Vantage --FREE
4 RJO web based--FREE
5 T4--have to pay for
6 TTX_Trader-- have to pay for
7 TTX_Trader Pro--have to pay for
Maybe I can broker a deal to get one of the paid for platforms for free.
In the documentation of R-Trader you can see exactly the time your order was sent to the exchange, and the time it was filled. I use both CQG and R-Trader (clients do) and I am yet to see such a huge difference between the two.
When you say you trade gold, do you trade the GC or the YG (Mini Gold)?
I suspect that it's the YG which could have horrible execution in the early AM while it gets better later in the day.
Definitely move to CQG Trader if it is better, but just wanted to share with you my experience.
