Figure if some of you guys watch a lot of movies post what you thought about it. Or maybe if you are looking for opinions on a movie. Whether that movie was recently released to theater or video, or is something that is coming out in the near future... post about it.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Usually, I think movies with fighters, singers or other athletes suck. They are usually so limited in their abilities and it shows in the performance. A lot of which could be helped if the director knew how to keep a lot of that subdued.
I'm a pretty big MMA fan, and Gina is in this movie called 'HayWire,' and it actually doesn't look that bad. It appears to have a high production value, and maybe they know her limitations and it turns out ok?
It's not coming out till January, but I'll probably check it out.
Although it was made in 2009, it just got released on DVD (at least in Norway). It seems it did awful at the box office, but what do the general public know anyway?
"Middle Men" is about the pioneers of internet commerce, which we all know used to be an euphemism for porn (until recent years). It's more of an "action"/drama than about internet pornography, and I found it to be quite good...
Fast Five, watched about a week ago. IMO it was entertaining. Nothing ground breaking, but I enjoyed watching it. Not really much about racing in this one like typical. There is a really AWESOME car chase in the movie though! And not just one of those throw away car chases, it's probably not as good as the one in Ronin, but it's on that level. Worth watching, particularly if you need something to do.
X-men, LOL watched this last night. I enjoyed it. It was interesting seeing some of the characters as they were younger. The visuals where well done, and the character development was better done than any of the other movies in that series.
The other two movies, I have had on my HDD for a few days and haven't gotten around to watching them yet.
Good production value and decent to ok story. Along with the production value, the visuals are always really well done. The action and stunts were somewhat entertaining. After a while, some of it just started to get a little boring and repetitive. Also I have no idea how many of these things they plan on making, as of course it is set up for a sequel if they so deem it worthy.
The redeeming part of the movie is the characters. I haven't enjoyed all the movies in this series, but the characters are always imo very interesting. And this movie brings some interesting characters along with it. Johnny Depp still does an EXCELLENT job at playing Jack Sparrow. As always he brings a certain humor, and simultaneously delivers both levity to keep things moving, and the gravity you would expect from the lead role in a movie. The supporting cast shines here as well. With that said, the heroines of this movie, while being very attractive, I didn't feel she brought level strength with her character as that of Jack Sparrow. The chemistry just wasn't there.
All in all, I would say this movie is worth watching. It is probably really worth watching if you are a fan of the series.
