Does anyone use Think Or Swim? Do you have an issue with execution speed? For some reason when I want to close a trade at market it takes 3 or 4 seconds for to close. Is this typical with other brokers?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I find thinkorswim execution fine for stocks and options. At times your fills depend on how they route the order but you can have the same routing issue with any broker. If trying to trade futures you will want to look at one of the brokers that specialize in futures because you might get some lag with thinkorswim.
"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
I've used TOS for about a year and haven't had any noticeable issues (other than the one below) on execution for Stocks or Options, especially when closing at market.
That said....today (Friday Aug 12) i ran into issues trying to close out 2 positions using a Limit order...I attributed it to being a high execution activity time (first thirty minutes of the trading day). The orders were accepted but never seemed to be executed even though my limit should have been reached. I closed down TOS and reopened and the orders had been executed at the time i submitted them. Strange behavior...but TOS did just update their platform last night / this morning.
Are you seeing execution issues regularly or just recently?
I use thinkorswim for one of my accounts. I have issues pretty often after an upgrade. Sometimes they issue two or three patches before everything is fixed. Annoying but best advice us to tread carefully after an upgrade and quit trading if you start to see problems.
Interesting worldwary. Can you expand on the issues?
I've had login issues after an upgrade but I can't think of anything else.
Any issue is normally fixed right away and their customer support is very quick
