I've been a member since 8/14. I became an elite member today. Wow, you might say. This is my first post. All I can say is - Life happens. I've been studying Mack's PATs for the last three years and following Thomas Wade for about a year. I believe I have a pretty good grasp on the process (that remains to be seen and hopefully I can get some guidance from all of you) and have recently started trading live.
I spent my career in Software Development and IT at various levels from beginner developer to "C" level management.
My plan is to trade the ES as I have learned from Mack using NT8.
I'm in Florida.
I hope to learn from the community as well as give back as I can.
Daytrading is by far the toughest challenge I've ever undertaken. With historical price charts, it's equivalent to running forwards and looking backwards.
With the recent volatility swinging my conservative investments, I'm convinced there's no choice but to understand price action to protect my portfolio. My hedging attempts have not done well, so I kept struggling to find answers. I research focus is combining price pattern analysis with volume pattern analysis. I'm using TradingView for all my coding.
I'm happy that there's a community of traders to learn from each other. Looking forward to participating.
Hello to everyone and best wishes. I have been trading for about 2 years and slowly but surely figuring it out. Kind of like golf. Ups and downs. Blew my account up once.
trying to be as conservative as possible.
i traded commodities (mainly physical) for about a decade, did well. Then started my own hedge fund using a broadly trend following model and didn't do so well, mainly because we injected way too much discretion into the system and we didn't think thru it carefully.
since jul 2020 though, i've cleaned up the system and traded it starting with approximately 530k. as of end jun the NLV is 4.2 mil, so pretty good with a sortino of about 2.4. Not sure if I'm missing the big neg skew event but I'm doing my best on the risk mgmt front.
on twitter as ginzabike as well. I aim to update my trading journal on this site fairly regularly (maybe once a week)
I am here to try to figure out Day Trading Futures (on TastyWorks, as our platform choices are limited in Australia)
I then hope to python code a bot and charting to help me in that.
My trading background:
I am in AEST timezone but have insomnia, so spend 1-3 hours trading in the night.
I started out by CFD trading on CMC Markets after initially trading crypto in 2013 and finding buy and hold stock boring.
Biggest win and first big lesson was FX EUR/USD - I made $14K in 3 months, which I then gave back in 3 weeks.
Lost everything in CFD ($20Kish) before I realised it's a scam and I was just plankton (Thanks to Anton Krail explaining the broker involvement behind the scenes in his fantastic talk on YT).
All losses recovered in an accidental buy and hold strategy made in crypto when I could not access my keys for months because I went travelling, came back to a windfall (I am avoiding crypto now, as I dont like it in current environment).
Got interested in Options after that and started learning them.
Did well on Options through 2020 until we hit 2022.
Lost 15% of portfolio trying to change my approach in market change going into 2022.
Currently switched to buy and hold stocks and 50% in cash waiting for the "big one", but my long time desire has been to day trade successfully and Futures allow 23/6 and no PDT so here I am...
I am now in the midst of learning how to Day Trading Futures (Though the AEST time frame is challenging!)
I appreciate the warm welcome! I am here because I am new to Sierra Charts and this site was highly recommended by great traders.
I feel like I have paid enough tuition and need to take trading more seriously. I work long hours as a field service engineer for energy company and only trade from my phone.
At night I do research and plan, I am looking forward to learning and contributing to the community!
