It is my pleasure to invite Josh from @NinjaTrader back for another NinjaTrader Programming webinar on Saturday, September 22nd @ 2:00 PM Eastern US.
Josh has asked if the members of futures.io (formerly BMT) would kindly post suggestions by replying to this thread for any specific NinjaScript topics that you would like to see covered during this NinjaTrader Programming webinar. This will give him an idea of what are the more popular requests and he will do his best to build his presentation around that if he can.
I have a couple suggestions that I think may be interesting -
Managing risk and tracking losses
If you want to put a strategy on pause for say 3 hours or until a condition is met (say an outside reference, VIX, returns to an acceptable level) after having 3 consecutive losses with the strategy.
Managing multiple strategies -
If you wanted to have one strategy running across multiple assets but also wanted your program to monitor the number of consecutive losing trades across those assets.
So for example, you have the same strategy running on AUDUSD, EURUSD, GBPUSD and you want to stop new trades from taking place after you have 5 consecutive losses on those three pairs. Is this possible?
Also perhaps discussion on managing multiple strategies in ninjatrader may be helpful. I am finding that my control panel is very cluttered with strategies running on different pairs and then if I lose my connection I often have to restart all of my strategies and sometimes from scratch with parameters being input manually. Is there a better way to manage one or more strategies running on multiple assets?
Advanced examples on Custom Plots should be useful, and why use them instead of some draw() functions.
If questions on unsupported/hidden stuff is allowed, I have a couple of questions .
On the backtesting subject, I would like to know exactly how ninja's strategy analyzer runs backtests. If I had an organic strategy that adjusted itself, would it be backtestable(is that even a word??).
My name is Josh Peng and I am the Product Manager of NinjaTrader. I am really excited about getting another opportunity here on futures.io (formerly BMT) to discuss NinjaScript. Thanks Mike!
The feedback here about the things you guys want to see is great. Here is what I am thinking. Several people have asked about risk management and backtesting so I would like to put together a webinar covering some of those topics. They are closely related and would tie in nicely together. I want to put together a webinar for you guys discussing the process in which you can take your NinjaScript strategy and how you can analyze it and make improvements to it for better results.
Topics to discuss:
- Techniques for risk management in your NinjaScript strategy
- How to backtest effectively and translate results into actionable changes for your strategy
I know there are a lot of other topics out there people are interested in too. Hopefully we can tackle them in another webinar in the future. Hope to see you all on Saturday 22nd!
