A federal judge has stripped a Pennsylvania family of their grandfather's $80 million worth of gold coins and ordered ownership transferred to the US government.
In this case, the government was probably correct to do so. The coins were never issued into circulation, or at least were never recorded as being released. That is why 10 coins were so valuable.
There was some disputes that they could have been obtained but the point was , the government said they were stolen. And since there was an order in 1933 or something to turn them in, they should have been turned in back then if they were obtained legally.
Never, ever, tell anyone or any official about what you own (in detail) as far as: Gold, Crypto, or Guns. Obviously some of these have a paper trail, but minimize and diversify where you obtain such assets and they can't track 100% of it.
Will come in handy at some point.
Loose lips, sink ships.
Instead of getting greedy with the gold, they could have melted it down long ago and gotten something out of it VS absolutely nothing.
WW2 in Europe, the Nazi's seized a lot of private wealth from people. Looted homes and accounts.
Imagine nowdays, the gov't can easily pull your most recent credit application to find out what you own. Everything tracked and electronic.
