What programming skills are needed to create, modify, or improve Ninja Trader 7 indicators?
I have some experience in C and C++. Or in what direction do I go to get started?
thanks H. Hampton.

I learned by jumping in. Think of a simple indicator you want to create, and go for it. There are tons of indicators posted where you can find reference code for almost anything. If you get stuck, post a new thread in the nt programming sub forum. The only programming experience I had was a introductory c++ class from school 8 years ago.

For most stuff it's NinjaScript and C# basics (really basic basics that is), for things in this category copy/paste is the most important skill. From there it's really just an open C# door. So you could basically do a lot with C# and even C++...

@datahogg: If you have some experience in C and C++, you are better prepared than I was when I started to use NinjaTrader. All that is needed is

-> a book to get started in Visual C#
-> the NinjaTrader Help File (I started with a printout of this document https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt7/pdf/NinjaTraderVersion7HelpGuide.pdf)

Then download Ninjatrader indicators and strategies, copy and paste and make sure that you understand what you are copying....

I really have to give credit to NinjaTrader that all their indicators are open source and that the product is relatively well documented and supported.

There are several NexusFi (formerly BMT) webinars on "How to" program with NinjaTrader to get you started as well with some basics.
