Hey guys question for you. I want to create some C# code that will sign onto to IB and place an option order from within the NT strategy even though options trading is unsupported from within NT, has anyone tried options trading in NT like this? Any ideas for a good approach or code you could share? I know how to construct an options ticker like GOOG130216C00385000 so its just a matter of signing onto broker to place the order.
Thanks,

I tried that a long time ago, and their are multiple solutions.
The first one is to write the code directly in a Ninja strategy using IBCSharp - Home or Building C# compiler in C# - Home , but both have not been updated, so I won't try it now.
The other option is simply to allow the communication between a Ninja strategy and a Java program using the IB official API. I'll use simple socket communication between both, that's the easier. As the Java IB API (like their VB/C++ API) is supported, that's the safer way to do it.
.
Ray confirmed in his last webinar that Options will be supported in NinjaTrader 8! ...due out probably long after one could code it using the IB Java API, but hey at least they're working on it.
The quick and dirty (heavy on the dirty) approach might be to prototype what you want to do using the IB Excel plugin then trigger it from a strategy using standard C# calls.
If you ever end up successfully implementing it please post the solution here!!
No date commited on that NT8 release of course. Can't fault that really... them being a 30-person privately held company with finite support resources in a highly competitive space. Ray said they're focusing on performance/stability and taking the time to get it right. I'm sure their most valuable customers are in the know (partners, uber-developers, people who complain the most), but for the rest of us it ain't out until its out : )
