I am looking for the convertional ADX and ATR indicators, but instead of them showing in a new panel below the main chart, I would like to see them in a small box on the main panel. i.e. a pure number for the ADX and a number for the ATR at the specific candle. THis will save a lot of screen space, and is very useful at a glance to see if ADX(5) for example, is above 25 for an entry, if this is your go no go criteria.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I just threw this together and you can modify as you please. Because I have no idea what defaults you would use I kept the ATR period at 14 and used 5, as you mentioned, for the ADX. The background will change color at your threshold setting for the ADX. Dan
i heard about a request of a textbox in the chart showing some during trading needed infos.
i had some time today and made this as a posting now for all.
this is a code-example for making a such a textbox with live-infos …
Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for. I changed the code for the ATR to show 6 zeros, as it was not showing currencies like 6e, 6B, 6C etc. I also see that the calculation for the ATR is NOT exact, as it does not show the same number as when I use the ATR indicator in another panel. The numbers are slighly different. I looked at the code but could not find the reason. Could it be the difference of 1 candle bar I am not sure. Once again many thanks. Incidently I use ADX=5 and ATR = 21
Dan,
I have found the problem of the ATR numbers. It was my stupid mistake. I use on one CLOSE=TRUE and on the other CLOSE=FALSE. So of course there is a difference. IT now works perfectly. How can I add into the box another line that shows 2ATR
No. ATR times 2 = 2ATR . Just another line in the box that give the calculations of twice ATR. I usually take first profit target at 1ATR and 2nd proft target at 2ATR. So seeing both these numbers at once is a great help
