Hopefully I am putting this in the right location.
I have been journaling my trading now for several years.
I am comfortable with my journaling now and have a mentor that I send them to daily.
What I am not comfortable with yet is my trading, but hopefully that will come in time.
In the meantime it is time for me to give back what I can, and some of that is my trip down the Yellow Brick Road in trading and journaling.
First to let you know the main programs that I use for journaling and input to my journal:
- Ninja Trader
- TDAmeritrade Think or Swim
- Open Office: both Spreadsheet and Word Processing (I will attach templates tomorrow)
- Fast Stone Capture
- Free Alarm program (18FEB2017: I don't use anymore)
OOPS just realized have to run.
Will post journal file and my templates tomorrow.
Best wishes to everyone.

* I appreciate constructive suggestions from successful CASH traders. As we all know there is a big difference that takes place in your head when you switch from PAPER to CASH that affects even the best traders.
Nothing really that fancy but I have two template files that I use during the day they are self explanatory.
I have converted them to an Excel template file and WORD file. Couldn't find word template option available in my version of Open Office.
If people want I will also post my actual Open Office Templates.
Well I think was only able to upload the template of the WORD file...
It will take me a day or two to get used to this interface.
Way past trading bed time. l8tr
Rather than making another post I'll just add the file containing all my templates:
Some trade journal. HA
Today was spent with me on the side.
I had various reasons to enter and more reasons to SOH (Sit On HANDS) so that is what I did today.
Even though today was not a trading day I still journalled.
Journal is attached as I can't cut and past it all in here.
Just may start cutting and pasting the text though.
Maybe I should have called the journal my daily rant.
Oh well, the Yellow Brick Road is just as good. ;-)
TY for reading.
Have a GR8 day.
- Bill D. in San Diego (I'd say sunny SD, but overcast day)
Spent most of the day just in SOH mode watching the market.
Volume way light for the day increasing vulnerability of getting whipsawed out of any trade taken.
Took afternoon trade.
Attached is both my journal for the day and video journal for the trade. I have a lot more work to do on the videos if I do them in the future. It did serve its purpose of distracting me long enough to maybe hit my target. Oh well live and learn.
Thanks to all.
Have a great 4th everyone.
Sincerely,
Bill D. in San Diego
p.s. Yes video needs lots of work in the future I will see what can be done for a better presentation.
If you will upload video files as either MP4 or FLV directly (no zip), they will be directly playable from futures.io (formerly BMT) in our video player.
Big down day.
Brain switched off in the afternoon.
My trading followed quickly.
Good thing I'm still in SIM trading mode.
9 LOT losing trade Video and Journal attached.
Mistakes too numerous to mention, but I did in journal and video.
Hopefully I won't forget them as I have repeated them in the past and with real money before.
Then again I can hear many say been there done that.
Best to all and have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Bill D. in San Diego
I do not need a Word template, but if you want to save as a template in Office, you should be able to do a Save As. In this dialog there should be a drop down selection for Save As Type where you would select Word Template.
