hi I am new to this forum and I am wondering if any of you pro traders follow or have any opinion on trading and cycles based on the position of planets and the earth. It sound like b.s. to me,I wonder if you pro's have an opinion.Thank you, tradermark.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I have a few trading rules based on the position of the earth. For example: if the earth starts hurtling toward the sun, I will put on a massive short position UNLESS the moon also starts dripping oil directly on Texas. There are other subtleties but I don't want to give it away.
Look, the truth is that in some sense, the position of Jupiter last week has a profound impact on IBM's earnings today (and if you sneeze on Tuesday instead of Wednesday their results could be affected as well)... The problem is, systems like that have a property called 'mixing' ( Mixing (mathematics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), which means that the probability of Jupiter being somewhere and IBM having good earnings are such that they might as well be completely independent events, no matter how significant the connection actually is.
Interestingly, there is one situation where it makes game-theoretic sense to invest astrologically: when you know that the company is run with help from astrologers. Then, if you know enough about their astrologers' style, you can reverse-engineer their decision-making process and take advantage of your 'inside knowledge.'
Can't be any worse than Murrey and his love for full moons in October and the idea that the Earth revolves around his birthday. BTW very funny Richard, loved it.
I was expecting some amusing posts regarding my head transiting uranus, etc, but what I was really hoping for was,has anyone tried to actually trade off the various experts planetary pronouncements? My friends who work in law enforcement and hospital ER's say it's no myth that things get more interesting around full moons-could it be that far fetched to claim some influence is seen in something as emotional as investing is for many people?Could it be more psuedo scientific than all these magic oscillators that make SO much money for everybody??Thank you, though, for the good laugh!Mark
I don't believe that astrology crap for one minute. However, I can't deny that full moons fill up the ER. I have heard some say it's because our bodies are made up of 70% water so the moon can effect our actions like the moon effects the tides.
Having said that, Gio posted in my profile once that I should watch square of nine, which goes along with all that Gann research. That's just another way of looking at S/R I believe. He also posted vibration times which were usually +/- 5 minutes within a half hour mark, but not always. If you believe in S/R levels and you believe that price moves on the half hour than you could say that astrology trading works. The vibration times could have been based on algo trading stuff but I am not sure.
Gio also traded using trendlines and harmonic patterns. He just looked at price action differently and would call it trading with the universe or some bogus thing like that.
