Not saying this is excellent but might give someone a start. Has rudimentary stats section that stays at top of page. (Need to delete all my entries but make sure to keep the formulas! Some of the early columns have less in them than the latest ones so best to paste in the formulas from the bottom columns into a top column underneath the stats before deleting the other entries.
I hope this is not out of line, but there is also a website called Trading Journal Spreadsheet Log > Stock - Forex - Futures - Options
The guy has made different spread sheet journals for stocks, futures, options etc. It has all the normal entry criteria as well as areas for comments. It will plot an equity curve and provide win vs. loss data etc. I actually bought the futures version a long time ago and did not use it. I think the fact that I did not use it is one of the reasons I have not been successful. I plan to change that. I attached a screen shot as well. Oh, its less than $50. I am not associated with the company in any way.
One of the most useful figures I want to know is my Profit Factor. When I can trade a strategy with a PF over 2.0 I know I can compound it.
Most systems are below 1.5
Another figure that gives me confidence in my strategy is in the number of trades to recover from a drawdown. Experience shows me this wants to be no greater 25 trades. So when you take a trade that sends you into a hole and you can get out of that hole inside 25 trades all is OK.
If it takes longer than that your edge needs sharpening.
So a PF above 2.0 will most always recover a drawdown in less than 25 trades.
Hello Big Mike.
I'm in need of trading journal and while searching, I found yours futures.io (formerly BMT) trading journal which I like. However I need to do some personal enhancements to meet my specific needs and I am illiterate in using Excel. I have two ways how to achieve my goal. First post my needs here on this forum hoping that somebody will be interested and help, and post your trading yournal to other( Financnik.cz - komodity, akcie, burza, forex) trading forum where somebody might help me too.
My question is if you mind me posting your trading journal on foreign forum. After the changes will be made, of course, I would post it here as well. Thanks Mike
Hi all. I recently pulled something off the shelf and dusted it off. This was part of something I was working on a while back and I need a little help. This is great if someone can use it and for me to have the different charts up is what makes this interesting. Anyway this is set up for forex and I was hoping someone could change the imputs so I could trade the ES with it and the value for each trade has to be changed to 12.50 instead it is at one for forex.
Don't trade this way but to change sheet values to 12.5 go to Data sheet and alter cell T6 to the Point/Pip value you require - I would suggest 50 for ES
then alter your factor for decimal places to zero.
One thing to note there is no accounting for commissions in this sheet - this is important. Esp if you start to trade multiple contracts - it will reduce the profits substantially I would suggest.
I moved your post (you created a new duplicate thread, instead of replying to the existing topic).
You'll need to be more specific as to what the problem is. Works fine for me in FF, Chrome, and IE. The attachment is in post #1. If you are having trouble, try right-clicking and select "save target as" on the attachment.
