Well maybe if a poster gets a lot of "I Disapprove" votes they will step back and consider why that happened and change their "I know it all" attitude. There have been times when a new poster comes into a thread and makes a totally clueless post(s) without bothering to read the thread and understand what it is about.

Edit: After thinking about it overnight, I am afraid that, while I do agree that the clueless present a big problem, I can't see the Disapprove option as a cure. They will always come around, and the Disapprove button isn't going to stamp it out (cluelessness never sleeps )

However, there is potential for bad effects that the button could unleash on the community, because of the ease in taking quick and cheap shots it makes available.

Words like "like" and "disapprove" often seen too strong, and I wish I could just agree or disagree.
And sometimes I wish I could vote it up or down, as in stackoverflow.com

I'm glad more people have reached the same conclusion which I've always held -- negativity shouldn't be allowed. By having options like "dislike" or "disagree", it just encourages negativity. This is the exact opposite of what this community stands for.

So I think we can make it clear that the new site will not have such options, just like the current site does not.

IPS is delaying the release of IPB 4.1 for a couple more weeks. I'm looking at adding another developer to the project to help speed up our conversion process. I was hoping to be further along, but you know how it goes. Right now focus is turning towards themes. Guys, I need your input. If you have another forum of any kind (any topic) and any platform (vbulletin, xf, ipb, whatever) and you like the way it looks visually, its colors, its design, layout, etc, please post it below. I'm not asking about features or functionality. I'm asking solely for visual theme design choices that you like. This is important, I want to get some of your feedback and incorporate it into my own. i would really like a dark theme version of whatever design you go with. i like XDAs version. maybe not that type of layout but you could do a dark version like that with the futures.io blue as an accent.

On the new framework, we are building a custom section for webinars from the ground-up. Here is our current page: https://nexusfi.com/webinars/#registernow With the new design, we first need to establish what elements to capture. Each webinar has these key elements: - Title of webinar - Description - Date and Time - Author(s) and/or Vendor(s) presenting - Thumbnail image - Keywords/categories - Discussion thread URL - Presenter URL(s) We will also capture things like likes and views. We will be using our own internal HTML5 video player and not using YouTube, so we can control access to Elite content better. The idea is to display all this data in a better format than we do currently. And to make the list sortable in several ways, including: - Sort by date - Sort by author - Sort by keywords/categories And in addition to being sortable, it also needs to be searchable. This way you can search within the webinar archive by: - Search by author - Search by keywords/categories - Search by match in description - Search by match in title Our list is currently formatted like so: I'm currently thinking that the format is somewhat similar, but that each webinar 'block' will contain the information I mentioned above. The long description would be truncated, but expandable with a click. Instead of 4 thumbnails wide, we may get only 1 or 2. Have I missed anything important? Is there some sort of sort or search option that you guys need that I've not considered? Please let me know, because I am finalizing the requirements and sending them to the developer this weekend. I believe IPS will release 4.1 by the end of this month. When that happens, I'll perform another new "from scratch" conversion and remind everyone of instructions for testing the beta site.

Unfortunately, the developer still hasn't given me much in the way of completed modules. He says he is almost caught up with other clients and I am now the focus, so I hope that is true.

They should mention FIO on their site. It's the biggest ad for them to have a site like yours taking on their forum technology, especially since they are "stealing" you from VB.
