Good afternoon! I day trade futures, specifically the Mini Russell (TF), Mini S&P (ES), and the Mini Dow (YM). I was trained to get in on the turning point of the market i.e. change in direction. Lately I notice the timing of my indicators seems to be off. Is there an "optimal setting" for indicators? I love the system I use, and am simply trying to optimize it.

Thanks in advance! :-)

Harry

What indicator are you talking about? I'm going to guess it's an oscillator, but that's just a guess

That is one major problem with indicators. Sometimes they are dead on, but not often than not they are a little "off." Optimizing and changing parameter values might temporarily fix the issue, but soon enough the new values will also be "off."

It is a never ending chase to find the right values. Kind of like a dog chasing its tail.

I used to have the same issue with indicators. Now I know the less indicators on the chart the better. Sometimes they give me great signals and sometimes it was totally off. I have a system with EMA and MACD indicators (YM scalping thread), but I'm trying to focus on a pure price action scalping with no indicators. Indicator is an evil thing
