Is there currently available an average daily range study for sierra? or has someone made one? where it just calculates the daily range for the past X days and averages it. thanks!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Hey! I am wondering if there is a way to get a similar "study" as @Inletcap on the Spoo-nalysis thread regarding ADR. You can see it on the top left of his charts and it also plots the high and low levels on the charts. Thank you for the time!
I got the idea of the way mine plots from somone on the spoos thread who had it exactly as mine is now on thier Sierra tradestation. They posted it to show me how nice of a display they had. Try searching spoos thread with keyword ADR and sierra. I'm on iPad now so can't use FIO search to help.
First you apply the ADR or ATR study (as per post #2 in this thread) to a Daily chart.
Then you apply the Daily Range Band study to the intraday chart you want the dynamic markers to plot the range limits next to the price scale. The settings reference the ADR/ATR study on the Daily chart.
I only plot the dynamic markers next to the price scale. I did not bother with the infoirmation Inletcap has in the top LH corner (as it is all shown by the visual presenation of the dynamic bands), but you could achieve this, possibly with a combination of the Text Display study, Overlay study and Study Subgraph (to perform the math calculations). Big Mike has done this across the top of his charts in SC, so you may have to ask him if you get stuck.
Below are my settings for the Daily Range Band so it only plots a short line next to the price scale.
If you don't want the ATR as a visible study other than the data
In Dialogue Box of Study Average True Range
Settings and Inputs
-Short Name "ATR LB1" (example)
-Chart Region "1"
Subgraphs
-Check only "Display Name and Value" (X2), "Display Study Name" (X2)
This will show at the top of the price chart (current bar) on an M1 /CL Chart as
"ATR LB1 ATR 0.01"
