Can someone please walk me through the margin required to maintain a position such as a short put (On an ES Emini contract) as the market moves down to our strike and then away again?

Depending on your broker margins can be lower, but in general it isn't recommended to
use the additional leverage (esp for beginners) since it spurs on overtrading.
