Hello,

I wasn't sure if I had the right to post but I wanted to try since this community id so large. So I am currently a French student in my penultimate year of study and I am interested in becoming a trader or a broker later. I'm taking a gap year to have an 9 months internship in the US, and I have found a company which told me that they are willing to take me if I accept to pass the series 3 exam. It means that for the first 4 months I won't have much things to do in the company as I will spend most of my time studying for the exam, and then if I get the license, they will see.

Knowing that my internship will only be for 9 months before I go back to France to complete my degree, do you think this offer is interesting for me or should I seek other opportunities? Will the license be a good asset on my résumé?

You may pass the exam before leaving, it's going a waste of time during your internship.
Online courses are available and you there is an exam center in Montreuil...

My internship, whether I choose this company or another one, will starts in November so I don't think I will have the time to pass the exam here. But what I understand from your message is that it is better for me to find another opportunity? And if I don't find one, is it better to take this offer or to stay in France?

If you already have a financial background 2 months is more then enough to prepare this exam. I you don't know what's an option delta or what open interests stand for then it may be a bit tricky.
I don't have enough details to decide (current degree, US company, description of the job, your English level, ...). You can send me a PM with details if you want.

The Series 3 exam is really easy and the test dates are quite regular. I've had people with completely zero financial experience study for it over 1 weekend and pass it. Why don't you do the Series 3 before your internship starts? 4 months is overkill.

Hi, I am curious, why does your profile say retired backtester? Have you retired because you no longer need to backtest or because backtesting is a bad idea?

It's a private joke with myself.
