It seems like MB has been a mixed bag recently. On one hand they start offering refunds for certain FX limit orders and have improved their software a bit, but on the other other hand they decide to accept CC, which, as you pointed out, would have to be the ultimate act of desperation for a trader. They could have at least went with Paypal instead if they need a new option for funding. Meanwhile, they never seem to say much about the number one customer complaint -- data feed quality and stability. Let's hope that have some strict controls/protocols in place for CC funded accounts.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Hm, I thought it was my internet connection, software or because I use a MB Trading demo account, but do you guys also experience data problems?
Since I'm only testing with MB Trading, I haven't yet experienced problems with real-time trading. Yet their historical backfill contains numerous big gaps - see for example the attached images from MultiCharts with time set to exchange time (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-5). I've checked these gaps against their trading hours (see here, under the Forex header) but these gaps happen (as far as I can tell) at various times inside their trading hours.
I've seen them to. They don't exist on IQFeed FXCM feed, and I've also never seen them on TT or Zen Fire. It could just be a bad tick, but if it isn't then I would be pissed if an order actually got triggered by one of these moves. While I've seen it a couple of times, I've never had an order on during the event to see what happens.
You might try contact MBT support and see what they say. And ask them to fix the historical server if it is a bad tick so you can reload your chart and correct it. You can also do this from QuoteManager - edit data, find the bad tick and remove it. I think there might also be an option to filter the bad ticks in MultiCharts, where it automatically throws out a tick if it's > xx ticks from the prior ticket, but I may be confused (sorry, haven't slept).
As mentioned earlier, my biggest problems have come with the real-time data. During busy times, MB sends what appears to be dozens upon dozens of erroneous tics to ninja. It doesn't reflect these erroneous tics in MB desktop for example, but it sends them to ninja and displays charting errors.
THEN..... when I reload my charts, those erroneous tics that produced the weird pa are gone.
Interesting. I've not used their data in MultiCharts, mainly because I am lazy. I've been trading off IQfeed charts and just doing the math in my head to convert the FXCM feed price to the MBT feed price for targets/stops. I am only using this account for longer term trades, maybe 1-2 trades a day max, so hasn't been a big deal.
But I've only seen this "bad tick" problem twice and I've been running MBT Desktop Pro for probably 1-2 months now (hard to remember exactly).
NinjaTrader has an option to filter bad ticks, check tools - options - data feed. It might help.
I've dropped them a email. It's not a bad tick though - "just" missing a couple of hours of historical data. I've also reloaded the chart data in MultiCharts, and it seems it just reloads the wrong data - both in MC6 as in MCDT. Just have to wait what MB Trading support says.
Hm, worrying, especially if that triggers orders. Thanks for pointing it out, will need to test this further.
Just a update on this problem: it seems to happen in both MC6 and MCDT (which suggest to me that it is wrong MB Trading data). See attached screens of two recent examples in MCDT.
Oh, that is completely different. Like you said, that is a whole in your data. Ctrl-R doesn't fix in MC?
What I've seen is like a 200 tick tall 30 minute bar when price actually only moved 30-40 ticks. Like a bad tick in the bar showing a trade that didn't actually occur. Have only seen in twice.
I'm not defending MB Trading for their shortcomings but I find them accepting credit cards to be a good thing.
I have opened several accounts with MB Trading in the past and to get them funded was such a pain having to do a wire transfer from the bank. CC deposits is much more convenient for me.
Not being a client yet, here's a technical question.
If sending orders via NinjaTrader, will they be duplicated in real-time on the MBT Desktop (proprietary) platform ? (with no action on my side)
I'm asking because I want my account performance to be tracked by Currensee and they told me MBT Desktop is needed for the purpose. However Ninja is my platform of choice for execution, tools, etc and I don't wanna change.
Yes, all orders entered through NT will appear in MBT Desktop. So, should NT freeze, you can always login into the stand-alone MBT Desktop and monitor the situation while trying to get NT going again.
