It’s obvious Apple and Microsoft are taking us to a cloud, mobile, application type future. Both are moving away from traditional desktop and purchase software to a ios subscription model. It makes sense from their vantage point although I am curious how and when will we see a trading platform for this new model such as TradeStation, Ninja, Sierra, etc.

I know there are apps for many of the major players but I referring to a true replacement. The ability to add custom indicators, strategies, etc.

iCloud is a free service that keeps all your devices in sync. In other words, you can share information between an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and a computer.
It is not a computer operating system, which system is needed to operate a trading software.
I doubt that trading will be done that way. Trading software, real time data, brokers, etc...in the clouds...

Thank You for the input, although I guess I didn’t describe my question clearly. I understand cloud services and the function.

I asking if anyone sees a future where OS systems will completely be replaced by IOS only. Apple & Microsoft are forging in that direction. Therefore could we see expansive platform such as TradeStation or Ninja running on a iPad exactly like they do now on OS. Ability to run multiple indicators, strategy’s, etc.

Perhaps the best answer could be given by @NinjaTrader or one of the other platform reps.

But to me it seems that will be the next phase of trading.
With co-located servers running remotely there would be a lot more control, speed and ability to monitor.

Custom indicators could be on the local client talking to the servers.

But best answers will come from others.

https://www.tradovate.com/

I have no personal experience with Tradovate but they did a webinar on NexusFi a while back and they also have a ton of videos of their platform on their website. They are truly cloud/browser based and will work on your desktop, phone, tablet, etc. with both IOS and Android. You can open a trade on one and close it on another device or workstation, etc.

They seem to be the only ones pushing this direction at this time although some others have an application for your devices as well. I see they are constantly adding indicators, etc. and able to update features with each new release without having to really download the trading platform software to your computer.

I may try their two week free trial to check them out.

Again, I have zero personal experience with them, but they are pushing in a different direction with operating systems and with low full turn fees.
