I canceled my quarterly subscription to Ninjatrader today.
I just love Ninjatrader. For me it does it all. There's only one thing, it crashes. 6.5 crashes, 7 b18 crashes, they all crashes. We're bloody 2010, give me a break please.
This morning it crashed again while loading charts and again when I was in a trade and then later when I wanted to enter a trade who turned out to be a winner, so I lost because of Ninjatrader. It crashes sometimes when I'm just looking at the charts without clicking anything.
I have sended numerous bug reports with logs to NT but they all come back to me that they can't reproduce the crashes.
I have a automated strategy programmed in NT also, but it's no problem to reprogram this in another program.
I'm looking for a replacement, please if you have any ideas.
I checked out multicharts but are missing the chart trader or DOM, maybe I need to split up programs and don't search for a one program fits all ?
I daytrade forex, mainly GBPUSD, EURJPY and EURUSD. 5 to 15 trades a day.
Thanks
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Speaking from experience, I recommend MultiCharts if you are looking for a solid, fast, and very powerful charting and backtesting platform.
For order execution of discretionary trades, MultiCharts does not have a DOM yet (it is scheduled soon). Personally, I have been using the NT DOM with MC charting for many, many months. However, NT is the weak link in that equation, I still have problems with it. So now I am looking at X-Trader, I feel confident it is stable and reliable, and so far it has the feature set I need in a DOM.
If u can shift to another broker. I guess Open E Cry does support both EasyLanguage + C# . Though I'm not aware of its speed and all . May be some OEC user can give u proper inputs. But all what i can see is , DOM + EL support, This fills gap between multicharts & Ninja's DOM. It directly supports multicharts too.
I'm testing demo since past couple of days. Couldnt spare much time over it. But seems good to me.
Check out a free program which is still early in development called Trade Project which is here: Welcome to TradeProject
It has a DOM, Chart Trader and bunch of other stuff too, but as I say its early in development though.
As always, one should take caution but there is no harm in looking at it for reference.
Currently it only has broker/data support for IB, but Daniel has said he will release a IQFeed-interface in one of the next versions.
Although it is a free program, it is unfortunately not Opensource, which would have been good for others to become extensively involved and although, I myself dont actually run the program as my main program, I do take the time to help what I call one of the underdogs by doing some testing and submitting any bugs whenever I come across them.
So for all you IB or IQ feed users out there, check it out and I encourage you to participate.
I downloaded and installed SC about 3 weeks ago, but got busy and never activated it. On Monday I sent an email requesting activation and they replied that my 2 week trial had expired and I needed to buy the program. I got mad and replied asking them how they figured I used my 2 week trial when it wasn't even activated? They replied stating that they had extended my trial. I was still mad and replied that I had already removed it and wouldn't need the trial, thanks anyway. That said, I should probably swallow my pride and try it because it is so reasonable. Before I take such drastic measures, may I ask if it has ATM capabilities and can you create custom paint bar studies? Thank you.
There are many orders functionality, but I nerver looked into them, only tried some basic chart trading orders, cos I used it for charting not for trading, but i think on SC web pages u will find well documentation, and if u post on support board u will receive fast response, this especially for custom bar painting that i dunno if is possible, I never see a custom study with paint bar.
TT's XTrader is the owner of the DOM patent. They are expensive and excellent imo. But I use NT v7 b18 and it is fine w/ execution at IB. I have a Fios connection 25/15.
