I autotrade 4- and 2-hour Forex bars 24/5 so feel your pain. The longer the connection stays live--days, if not weeks at a time when I'm walkabout--the less hair tearing and fewer panic attacks. My strategies email me event notifications (e.g., trades, connection losses, money management issues/milestones) and lately that inbox thread has been pretty boring. NT7 seems to recover flawlessly from occasional short term feed losses (strategies are set to resume in the Options section).
As mentioned earlier IB outages occur like clockwork, as expected around end/start of session and in the wee hours when they must do a reboot. Rarely there will be a flurry of outages over a day or 2 for no discernible reason--could correlate with a pirate blockbuster movie hitting the file-sharing sites for all I know :-/
The symptoms you describe sound so far still sound like equipment or provider issues, although odd that it appears restricted to the broker connection; wonder if Mirus has issues it hasn't mentioned. Personally I don't trust ISPs as far as I can throw them, have been through quite a number of modems & routers over the years and have had them check the wiring to my house more than once, although broadband technology seems to have stabilized--not sure about DSL.
Now that ISPs are starting to tinker with bandwidth perhaps old issues are beginning to re-emerge; i.e., steve2222 in post #15 of this thread may be on to something regarding Zenfire & ISP issues specifically .
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Metal, I had first hand experience. Also, you can google it. If you are using DHCP, you might have experienced lost connection for Sierra + TT already. To test it uncheck "Reconnect on failure" in Sierra settings so that you will notice when Sierra lost connection. Check the timestamp in Sierra log, also check what time your computer renewed it's IP address to see whether the time match.
I use NT with a rithmic feed and had no latency issues.
"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
I'm really fed up with NT. In deference to Mike and the forum, I am holding back my anger, but I basically ripped them a wide gaping a new one, in my most recent correspondence to them.
I trade through Optimus who clears through Vision Financial. I had a zenfire feed at one time but had problems with disconnects. Zenfire uses rithmic feed but they have their own servers. I have found the pure rithmic feed does not have the same issues as zenfire. One nice thing about Optimus is in addition to Ninja you get R-trader. You can tie into your account in Ninja and R-trader at the same time. I automate so I only use R-Trader as a backup. But nice to have two platforms in case one is having issues.

YES!!!!!.............I didn't get it resolved until late in the day.........for me the problem was not Ninja........I had two indicators on my charts that I believe were the problem.........I removed the Constant Zones and the Jeff BBands and everything was fine.......
