I'm looking for an indicator which would plot say a SMA(14) based on a 30 min timeframe onto a 5 min chart. Ideally this indicator would be able to do this for any indicator and any combination of timeframe or bar types, another example, plot a EMA(20) based on a 2000 tick chart onto a 5 minute chart.

Thanks to anyone who can answer

Hi edstar,

If you add the secondary data timeframe onto the bottom of the chart, you can create an indicator based on that timeframe, and put it on the upper chart bars.

So if you have a 1-minute chart on top...and add a 15-minute bar on the bottom...you can add an SMA onto the top chart, but have it take it's price data from the 15-minute bar.

I've attached a screenshot of a 14-bar SMA on a 1-minute chart...but it is connected to the 15-minute bars on the bottom of the chart. You can do this in the Indicator parameters for the SMA...look for the "Input Series" field.

Let me know if that helps!

Hi, this is a very simple thing to do.

Watch this from Ninjatrader and you will get what you want.

Hello @sbgtrading.

You can easily do that for almost any indicator.

We'll use EMA.

Right click mouse. Data series. Add data series. (Pic 2)

Right click mouse. Indicators. Add EMA. (Pic 1)

Under EMA settings click data series and change to data series 2. (Pic 1)

The result (pic 3) your indicator is based on a higher timeframe.

Next go back to your chart and drag and drop the indicator from the second series to the first and main series.

Then drag the second series out of the way and you'll have your main chart in full view with your main timeframe AND the higher timeframe indicator.

Hope this helps
