There are many concerns on NinjaTrader forum with issues and people are reluctant to migrate from the old NT8.0 versions to newer NT8.1 versions. How was your experience with the new NinjaTrader client dashboard log in and NT8.1 versions? Do you know of any issues and solutions that may help others.
The credentials to sign in for NT forum are no longer working for the NT accounts. A separate new client dashboard account must be opened with new credentials. NinjaTrader support does not explain or make this clear for existing clients and members, thus a big source of confusion and frustration if you have had your account for several years before they started the client dashboard a year ago.
Another issue is if you purchased a live license, whether a multi-broker or not, to be able to connect to a specific broker such as TD Ameritrade, as an example, that connection is not available until and if NinjaTrader develops the required API. Despite having all the needed technical information from Schwab since June 2024, they have no set schedule or a re-assuring commitment to ever have an API. Meanwhile your account is on halt and a live license is useless if you cannot connect to your broker of choice for which you purchased your license.
If you have access to the TOS app., why do you need to use Ninjatrader? It's a pretty good software for trading, no ? Perso, i am still using NT8 8.0.28.0 64-bit.
I was not sure if your question was about using 8.1 vs 8.0 so I hope this answers your question.
I actually run both. 8.1 on my office pc and 8.0 on my home & laptop pc.
I do not like having to login to the interface on the office pc but I understand their concerns.
I only updated on my office pc to see the difference and to run a 'special' script that needed some features only in 8.1.
(I don't use that script any longer but I stayed with 8.1 on my office pc.)
My desktop on each PC looks almost identical and the performance is about the same.
I still prefer the 8.0 version but there is very little difference.
I expect NT Support will not provide a lot of effort to improving 8.0 in the future so that was also a concern.
Most of my custom indicators updated without issues and the data connection on either bogs down with some Econ Releases but recovers quickly.
I asked NT support to provide two connections so I can run both pc's at the same time.
I still do not like having to login each time I start 8.1 but it has not been an issue with the performance.
I have been using the same NT Forum credentials for many years, I have not been asked to update.
Was there other answers I can provide?
(I don't use TOS or TD Ameritrade) My accounts are with NT and AMP.

Good question. I do, and have been using TOS for many years as my primary active trading platform. I simply use NInjaTrader to develop unique trading tools and ideas that are quite difficult to implement in TOS as easily as with Ninja's open source platform.
Perhaps life will be easier if NT comes up with the Schwab API to trade directly from NT charts.
I am also using NT 8.0.27.1. But if you try to download a newer version, your current credentials to login to your account will be rejected. You need to create a new dashboard account with new credentials to access the download.
When I downloaded NT 8.1 it did require a new login to my ACCOUNT page but my Forum Page login remained the same as before but that could be because I have been on the forum since 2006 and before using NT Brokerage as my main account. I have not tried to update the forum login to my account login.

Agree, NT seems to have no interest to support or improve prior versions.
Despite being a live multi-broker license holder, my Forum and software credentials that I have used for past 12 years were not accepted and was told by Support that I need to open a new Dashboard Client account with new credentials before I can access my account and download a newer version.
I have been using both a desktop PC and a laptop for all these years and hopefully that will not change since I travel a lot with a laptop.
I used to trade futures from NT with Dorman years ago, but in recent years I mostly use the connection to TDA ( now Schwab) for trading equities. Having no connection API and live data for Schwab render my live license useless. I have been trading with TOS for many years on different accounts with no issues, the kinds of which that NTs has had all these years.
I have a ton of custom indicators and such in NT7 that I have not updated to NT8.
NT7 still works for me but I stopped creating in it last year when I upgraded to 8.
Some of the things I have in NT7 are very much missed but it has not seemed to affect my profitability that much.
( I started using IceFrosty Tickhunter a few months ago and it works well for what I need )

I think it's possible you have a brokerage trading account with them for some years and your credentials were not affected in last year's migration to Dashboard and NT8.1.
