@djkiwi, what kind of monitor stands?

Mike

Since your desk is near the wall, have you thought using wall supports?

I've just built a new i7-2600k:
- i7 2600k overclocked to 5.0ghz

That's some serious overclock....does it glow in the dark or levitate or does it do anything else worrying? Is it still stableat those speeds?!?

Yes it is stable, I ran prime95 and lynx overnight. It will do 5.2 (remember, this is water) but wouldn't survive an overnight run, so I backed it down to 5.0.

This is an ASRock Z77 Extreme9 motherboard, it actually does glow in the dark

I considered a bunch of options. The stand is great, very high quality - I've used them before for other configurations.

The issue is just the spacing due to the tilt. If you only have one row of monitors, it isn't a problem. But when you have two rows, the upper row is tilted downward at an angle, which then makes the edges of the outer monitors not align with the edge of the inner monitors. I don't think there is any mount in the world that could possibly fix that.

And the outer monitors have to be tilted inwards, or else I would have to be so far from the monitors (due to angle) that I wouldn't even be able to see the text.

@Big Mike

You are packing some serious hardware there! A trader's dream. My stands are Ergrotron. They are sturdy and am very pleased with them. Here is the link.

Ergotron 33-324-200 DS100 Quad-Monitor Desk Stand

It looks like you probably wouldn't have to change your desk if you had a pair of these. Just measure it out. They have full measurements in the support material section. All that would happen is your desk would have some big wings.

My desk is 72 inches wide. and have plenty of clearance between the feet of each stand and edge.

Cheers
DJ

Looking forward to it.

Yes, this is my new i7-2700k, overclocked to 5.0Ghz on water, 32GB, 2x256GB SSD RAID 0. I also have a quad Opteron 6174 w/64GB, and a Xeon E5-1660 w/64GB in the spare room, just sitting there... no time to finish any of my projects the last few months... hopefully soon.

@Big Mike

Hi Mike,

overclocked to 5.0Ghz and 32 GB Ram
is this really a measurable performance increase with respect to NT7 or DataFeed ?

I´ve a i7-930-2800k, 64GB using it with 12GB Ram (G-Skill DDR 3-1600)
on Motherboard Gigabyte UD9 (GA-X58A-UD9) and Crucial SSD

but I dare not to overclocking.
I'm afraid of overheating and I do not want to install a water cooling System.

How do you measured (maybe by taskmanager ? ) that you need 32 GB Ram ?
is it needed for Realtime Data or is it importend for NinjaTrader 8 to run the Platform quickly ?

and last question what brand of SSD are you using ?

many thanks.

cheers

I am using two Crucial m4 256gb SSD's in a RAID 0.

More memory is not going to speed up NinjaTrader. If you are backtesting large amounts of data, you might need a few extra GB, but I'm talking about millions and millions of ticks. You don't need more than 8GB of memory unless you KNOW you need more than 8gb of memory.

If you are uncomfortable and inexperienced overclocking, then don't do it. If you are running a stock HSF then you cannot overclock. The Corsair H100 I'm using is only moderately more expensive than a good air HSF (ie: Noctua), and I knew when I built this machine I wanted at least 5.0ghz. I wasn't worried about the extra $50. With the sealed Corsair H100 type systems, there is no maintenance. It's a closed loop system, far less worrisome than a traditional water setup. Performance is 90% of a custom loop, price is much less, and maintenance is zero, so that made sense to me.

Of course 5.0ghz is faster than 3.5ghz.
