I am so frustrated with NT7 hangup on loading data and about to trash NT7 all together. This is a recurring old problem that I have reported to NT many times and worked with several of their support guys, sharing trace files, surgery on computer, housecleaning, wireless, and modem for almost 8 months with no fix. I just bought a new monster computer that proved no help either. I read in their forum that many others have the same problem and NT is not accepting that this is a NT problem and are incapable to fix it.
With this background, does anyone know what the issue is and if there is a solution for NT hangup on loading data?

I am doing a trial with Mirus, so Zen-Fire is data provider. This is the first real issue I have had with NT. My workspace came up as normal (could see the charts where I left off in last session) but when I clicked on connection, the charts went blank and the program quit responding. Had to control-alt-delete to shut down NT. Froze a second time. Third time was a charm.
Incidentally I also have a trial to Sierra Charts to do a comparison. Had the 6E chart just stop updating. Shut down the program, restarted, and all was well.
Zenfire comes unfiltered with NT7. If you receive many ticks and have your indicators set to CalcOnBarClose = false, even the fastest PC might not cope with it. I am sure that the issue is related to some of your indicators, which may not be coded or set properly. In this case the problem is not related to NinjaTrader.
I suggest the following:
(1) Set all your indicators in all your workspaces to CalcOnBarClose = true.
(2a) If this worked, switch them to CalcOnBarClose = false one by one and monitor CPU load with a programm such as Process Explorer.
("b) If this did not work, just close all your charts, but one and connect. Do this for all charts, to find out, which of the charts contains the offending indicator.
If NinjaTrader remains black, it is also possible that you had opened a monster tick chart with a long look back period, which is too large to be supported by your PC.
NT7 is very stable and your description points to an indicator or data base problem.

I will try your suggestions, but my indicators are a couple of emas and a stoch (nothing exotic at all). Using range charts with default look back period. Have not checked the calc on bar close thing but will do it now.
I use PFGBest data feed for futures but I have had the same problem with TDAmeritrade data feed for stocks also. I have seen on NT forum that the problem is not limited to a certain data provider. The " loading data " freezes on loading a new instrument or changing the period or bar type in a chart. The connection status bar shows a frozen "loading data...ES03-11.... (i.e, etc.). The chart(s) on the workspace remain blank after that. I don't think NT crashes since I can still delete the chart or the the workspace but if I start a new chart (using default exchanges) the same thing happens and the connection status shows a frozen "loading data"again that will not go away and the chart will remain blank.
I have had the same problem with NT6.5 also, however, more frequently than NT7.
With 6.5, I had to do a Reset DBase every morning to avoid it to crash.
I don't know about your amount of Ram on your new monster computer so I would suggest to use fewer days back on each charts.
Reduce the number of indicators and limit some of them to calculate on bar open.
You may also make sure you don't use the market recorder since it's easy to download now.
If you have less than 2G of Ram, you may consider upgrading it.
I'm using 2G of Ram with Mirus on N7 and never had any problem and never had to Reset the DBase anymore.
I have tried most of these steps before, even re-setting the database in the options menu, starting with a new chart, but the same pesky "loading data" on the same previous instrument freezes and chart remains blank. I know one time I imported a new indicator that excruciatingly slowed down the indicator list when I was trying to put an indicator on the chart. Fortunately, I remembered which indicator I had imported last and after deleting that my indicator list would appear fast.
Just fwiw, I have never had similar problems with Genesis's Trade Navigator that I use with the same PFG data feed.
