Wondering anyone has any experience trading the euro (EC futures contract) overnight. If so is the trading automated? What are the risks or pitfalls of this kind of trading?

I think there are two different questions that have little to do with each other.

(1) The euro futures contract (6E) is certainly liquid enough to trade it overnight. Volatility is lower during the Asian session, and higher during the European session. So unless you are not trying to scalp it during the Asian session it will work fine. The are also some particular trades, such as the Asian Box trade - trading the breakout from the Asian session.

(2) Automated trading is quite demanding. You need a server, a backup server, the two should mutually control each other, unless you want to watch them all the time. You need a reliable software that can reset itself after failure. You need a boxed trading system that has been backtested to generate profits, etc. This is not the easiest task to start with.
