hi, guys, My ninjatrader keeps freezing whenever market has big moves, does anyone has same problem, or my computer has some thing wrong? anyone can give me some suggestions?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I had the same problem today. I had to exit NT twice and kill it with task manager once. Very frustrating. I was also trying out some new indicators and I suspect them, but for the last hour it worked fine. I think it was cause I had 7 charts open, and some indicators on each one.
So too many charts open = slow
Too many indicators = slow
one indicator that uses a lot of memory = slow or crash
NT used over 1gig each time it was slow.
This is a quad-core (although NT uses only 1 core) with 4 gigs ram. I'm not sure if I could get a pc much faster...
I just delete some of the indicators and reduced the chart number and also set the days back for each chart for 3 days, see tomorow if it works, I missed a lot of trades today, just traded the sideway and breakeven, all the trend move my NY freezing...
hi alex,
there are several basic issues with NT - thats for shure.
i can confirm that RAM usage > 1GB really slows down dramaticaly -- looks like a barrier here.
i use core2 + 2 GB RAM - so the recources are ok.
i only run NinjaTrader + max. 1 browserwindow .
but there are also some indicators that causes trouble with performance or RAM.
if you like, post what you have on the charts -- maybe we have an additional tip what maybe makes the trouble.
would be good to collected these things here - often they are posted in diff. threads.
Hi, Guys, I may find out the reasons, because I am using Rainbow chart, after I delete it, NT seems to be back to normal, may be I can not use too many EMA, WMA in my chart, and I also have other range chart, I tried to just use <5 charts. So, thank you guys for the suggestions.
yes, alex, and NT tech support has nothing really to say about it other than to do what is on their performace page... they also insist that it is "just a handful" of users who experience the problem... which I don't believe. HOWEVER... there is hope that NT7 has much better performance and I doubt very much that NT will pay much attention to 6.5 while they are doing the NT7 beta testing and roll out. I'm not live yet, but when I go live, I will have NT on two computers... one with no charts and only the data for the instrument I'm trading and the other with charts that I can close down with no consequences.
