Easier to learn, but it is really just syntactic sugar in many ways. I actually like C#, but the issue is the .NET that underlies it.
Flux has a bunch of of code here, and much of it is based on being really efficient (correcting the ways of NT). If you look at SC, it does not have those issues because it is designed to be efficient, so you can concentrate on what is important.
Sierra charts is by far currently the best value on the market.Their platform has proven to be very reliable in very fast markets. That being said, they do not hold the customers hand.Sometimes it even seems that some support staff may be slapping some hands.I take it with a grain of salt since their overall platform is excellent.I do a search on the forum and review the documentation before i ask for help on the forum. Most of the time i find an answer without the need to interact with support.Sierra charts has decided to compete in the platform market by having a great value combined with an overall excellent product. I suppose in order to continue to offer this value they must watch costs closely. Now if only they would just watch the hand slapping a little closer.
The answer to the original question is: yes. Sierra Chart provides a great value and product for the money, but it is amazing how unable (or unwilling) they are to be 'nice'. Disappointing, but that doesn't change the fact, that what is there, product-wise, is quite good.
Sierra Chart found my previous post and had this to say about it on their support board:
"We can 100% assure you we have no concern whatsoever about those postings. But we did want to state our position. Please go ahead and post all you want. Please make 1000 postings everywhere you want stating that Sierra Chart is not nice. Go ahead. "
They also said I wasn't nice for making a feature request they have no time for. Am I in The Twilight Zone?
This is a perfect example of how not to communicate with paying customers. Very disappointing, particularly because I think the product is quite good for the money.
Agreed, issue being SC is so completely superior to the competition, that I have basically resigned myself to accepting it until another product can compete with it. The way I see it, this is not likely to happen anytime soon for the simple reason SC also has a completely superior production model compared to the competition. NT and MC's model appears to me to be primarily marketing driven with new feature sets and improvements typically batched together and provided in major releases with much fanfare. During the same time, SC cranks out new feature sets and improvements incrementally at a frenetic pace without any fanfare, just immediate and gratifying results for the end user.
I've been using SC for a couple of years now. So far, the issues I've had, were solved in the next release. The only disadvantage of SC is that it needs .net so it runs on Micro$oft only. There are some tricks to get it running on Ubuntu, but than not all components are working (no spreadsheet). However, there are solving this now.
I agree, sometime the answers of the support are short. But I think that the 'nerds' are doing the support part as well as the programming. And we all know how good nerds are in communicating. ;-)
Any of you guys running Ubuntu with four monitors? If so, can you share your setup info (video cards) and Ubuntu version, and let me know if you have any issues with it.
Mike

I am running SC on a linux netbook without .net installed. I installed the non-.net version. I also installed corefonts and vcrun2008. I do not use the spreadsheets features of SC so I can not speak to those....
My focus is on:
1. Avoid the opening chop.
2. Honor stops
3. Ensure reward > risk on all trades
