I was wondering if anyone knew who has the best (lowest) commissions for buying/selling gold and silver coins?

Thanks, Jeff

I've used Swiss America before.......it seems like their commissions a bit high especially on the "collectable" numismatic coins.....which is a total rip-off.

APMEX is the largest in the US and is favored among many who buy in "small to medium" amounts at a time. Might want to check the rates at Monex too.

I'd be shocked if there was anything better than Tulving (rates, shipping, rebuy where they pay the shipping) but that's only for "larger" quantities at a time.

I bet you want to see how things go for a bit before buying though.

Hi Jeff,

I looked into this 2 years ago.

I agree Collectibles are greatly marked up. What a ripoff.

I opted to invest in gold and silver double eagle bullion coin. The coins sell at current market rates plus commissions.

I got the shaft right at the time of transaction when I was hit with a 2 percent bullion purchase fee in addition to the commissions and transaction fees. What a bunch of pricks.

Still, it was an excellent investment. The dollar is still being devalued.

Today's pullbacks offers opportunities to those interested.

RJay

Hey RJay,

Yes......gold has been a very good investment for me......I bought a substantial amount at the end of 2005/beginning of 2006. However.......the one BIG mistake that I made was purchasing "commemorative" coins for about $10,000.00 EACH......this was a huge mistake.......the commission was very high AND.......these coins are small in size and therefore have very little gold in them........live and learn.......the St Gaudens $20 coins were a fantastic purchase!

Also, Gold American Eagle proof sets have performed excellently! I just want to make sure I don't repeat my past mistakes. Peter Schiffs (Euro Pacific Precious Metals) seems like it might be a good choice. https://www.europacmetals.com/

Thanks, Jeff

I'm just curious... anyone tried to take profits and sell some of those coins ?

I have not used them before, but I sold a JM Silver Bar to Kitco last week. They gave me 14 cents off spot.

A pleasant surprise.

They also sell and buy coins. You tell them online what you have, they generate a quote. If you accept they firm it up and you must mail it to them within a day or two.

I sent mine insured.

Yes!......this has worked out very well.

The dealers will buy them at the bid. As simple as that.
