I am trying to create a simple automated system for Sierra Charts using a worksheet. The system is quite simple; it consists of two moving averages, a 40 MA and a 20 MA. The crossover of the 20 MA over the 40 should trigger a sell and the 40 MA over the 20 MA a buy order.
I have tried: =crossover(ID6.SG1,ID2.SG1) where ID6 is identifier of one MA and ID2 is the other one. It did not work. I also tried =crossover(SG1, SG2) and =crossfromabove(sg1,sg2). it gives the "#name?" error.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?

This is just a short general list and doesn't cover everything. If you are unsure where to create your new thread, just create it in Traders Hideout and a moderator will move it if necessary.
I think you are confusing two things. The examples you have tried are relevant to the alerts that you can set up. If you are coding the conditions on a worksheet, you need to use different references.
