Sierra seems very popular on these forums. Personally, I can't handle the interface and design. I'm spoiled with Ninja which might be an inferior platform, but easier to use (at least for me) and prettier (stupid, I know).
I started Demo trading it over the weekend, and I like the tools it offers under the hood. I like that the DOM gives me the 'prints' similar to like Jigsaw and ATAS.
--What I don't like is that I can't fully manipulate the look. I can't get rid of all the white or bright parts and the color functions that should be able to do that won't.
--I also don't like the design, it isn't sharp looking.
--I can't use Ninja because it doesn't give me what I want DOM wise, but it is slick. The best looking platform to me is TT, but still, it is missing some features that Sierra has.
Pricewise, I do not believe it can be beaten.
*It reminds me of a more modern CTS T4, but with better features. Dare I call it, utilitarian.
After a week with SC, besides the style issues, my biggest major issue is execution. It just doesn't make trading as easy as TT's MD Trader DOM. I do enjoy the Keyboard shortcuts and have made several, but the GUI. FLOW and so on are not as good as TT. The multiple data feed watchlist and potential DOMs so that I can watch the cash market as a price indicator might keep me using SC.
Do you know how to set up the platform? You can customize the dom to function similar to TT/ Jigsaw.
"Free markets work because they allow people to be lucky, thanks to aggressive trial and error, not by giving rewards or incentives for skill. The strategy is, then, to tinker as much as possible and try to collect as many Black Swan opportunities as you can"
Those are fairly common complaints, but if you can get past those and learn the platform, you'll find that SC is far superior to most all other platforms on all levels.
It's super fast, updated very often and the price is unbeatable. It just takes a little time to get used to it and learn how to use it. Once you do, you'll discover that it's capable of anything you can imagine.

I was some what forced to change from Ninja which I really liked. I now use Sierra Chart (SC). It has so many bells and whistles, I learn something new every day. The DOM is killer - click the little M button and turn off confirmation. General Graphic settings to change colors. Lots of u tube vids that help learn SC. With charts, just below the base color of the study is a drop down that by default says none, change it to "slope" and you can change the color of the graph based on the slope. Alerts are cool, they even have a color background study that changes the background color based on an alert you configure (no programming required). I did a lot of and loved programming in NT but I have found I can use the SC study configuration UI to do a lot of what I want. I can also have numerous charts and the DOM up with no system degradation even with 1 tick charts . They are quick to respond to questions and the docs are not too bad once you "speak" SC
basically, there are two main things missing on sc dom compared to jigsaw:
1) highlight for both bid and ask for whats currently being hit
2) from jigsaws manual which makes complete sense to see what's is trading and what has left (high strength move will leave a lot of blanks on one side):
Right now, sc has implemented so that either
1) the volume resets every time the bid/ask changes
OR
2) the volume accumulates according to the set time (e.g. 2500 milliseconds)
anyone who is used to the jigsaw dom will know these two should not be mutually exclusive, but rather work together... thus, for someone coming from jigsaw, it really is difficult to make the full switch to the current state of sc dom
below are examples of how jigsaw dom works, but is NOT possible with sc:
