HI Guys
I wanted to know what you guys think of Comcast as compared to At&t. I have a great connection right now that I am happy with comcast, however, I think that this new promotion with At&t is something worth considering. I think my internet price is fine, but for what I pay for my cable is way too much.
so, I thought about just keeping the internet with comcast, and getting At&t for cable tv, but I heard that At&T has a direct line and it is more consistent speeds. Although, I am not exactly sure of who else in my neighborhood has comcast high speed internet. I may not be sharing with that many people.
when I see my signal from my wireless, I have the strongest signal----although not everybody with internet have wireless, etc.. and of course, most people are not online in my neighborhood @ 8am watching crude and ES with lots of bandwidth sucking charts, etc..
so, any thoughts on which internet is best would be helpful.
thanks
Spencer
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I had Comcast for internet a few years ago but with a slower computer than the one I have now but the connection was fast.
Now I have at&t for internet with their fast DSL for homes and with this one year old Dell the connection feels really fast...faster than with Comsast.
FiOS rocks; I've had it for about 4 years now, almost no down time, decent wireless router, and I get this kind of speed with a nice TV/phone bundle for $129 total:
Download Speed: 43108 kbps (5388.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 34591 kbps (4323.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Just upgraded my FiOS speed again, price actually went down compared to what I was paying with a new bundle. <$100 total with TV and home phone package, HD DVR, etc, and included a nice gift card as well.
Was going to start a new thread but saw that this one already exists.
I currently have DSL but I'm tired of ATT raising my rates again for the phone line which I only use for the DSL.
My options in central California are Comcast or Uverse. With Comcast I'm concerned about the connection being as reliable (not going down) as my current DSL or Uverse. Where my wife works in town they have Comcast business and it goes down often. But one of her coworkers has Comcast residential and it's rock solid.
With Uverse, however, I'm concerned about latency from the interleaving. I'm a discretionary trader using 1-minute and 5-minute charts. Would I notice the higher ping times with this kind of trading? What about my connection to Rithmic and/or CQG. Would Uverse be more prone to losing the connection than Comcast?

Hey Zelek11
what is your ping and speed now from Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test and choose destination location Chicago since that is where your trading should be routed to.
If your wife has Comcast downtown business class, what is the speed and ping over there?
You can probably get a good idea of speed comarisons, and if you are happy with ATT ---- you have the one where it is fiber optic right?
You might also want to ask Comcast if they are upgrading to fiber optics. I talked to a rep from Florida and they said they were going to start doing that where I am from --- Chicago area.
I am happy here with regular Comcast --- not business class so I get 25 mbps at home. My dad has business class and gets 50 mpbs. I like Comcast but I believe Comcast uses a shared network.
So, if you have any latency issues because of the way the neighbors cable is configured, it will affect yours.
I believe Uverse actually has a dedicated line so they separate all of that. Plus it is hooked up different, so maybe certain issues with Comcast don't exist with ATT.
I think if you can get good ping and speed, you are set. The next thing is to make sure your computer is super powerful
