In forex in the summer the market will range typically, and in the fall/winter it trends better, so is futures like this? Trends better in the winter and ranges in the summer or is it somewhat consistent throughout the year?

A future is a derivative on an underlying, if the underlying is doing what you claim it does then the future will follow that underlying.
There is a seasonal difference in "liquidity"

But futures also have a term structure. So you can't say Natural Gas prices are higher in the winter than summer, so I'm going buy at the end of the summer and make money, because the term structure already reflects that, and the rolls will eat all your expected profit.
