I consider the Tokyo Midtown complex to be the best place to live in the city. Monthly rent for a 1 BR in that complex is about 5.3k EUR. By comparison, I consider One57, Columbus Circle and Hudson Yards to be the best spots in NYC depending on where you spend most of your time, but these three are about 6.8-9.8k EUR for about the same floor area. Seems like you've been around a bit. If I were to learn a new language - I'm most motivated to learn Spanish or Italian. For Eastern Europe, I was hoping I could get by on English. But as you suggest, I've heard it can be challenging. In fact, it's a big challenge in certain parts of Spain as well (typically once you stray off the tourist tracks).

To be fair, I've been mostly to the capital cities, but I've visited nearly every country in Europe.

I think Poland is a great place to be for if you're planning to get by with mostly English. Try it out.
