Curious if anyone knows of some good tutorials on writing in easy language for Tradestation. I'm trying to mess around with some algo trading but I'm a total beginner. I need to understand how to write my ideas in code.
Thank you very much. I have been researching for a while now but can't figure out how to get my algo to do what I want it to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to send out my idea and get some help coding it to do what I want it to do.
I have found DJtradingsystems to be very helpful in beginning my algo journey. Thank you for the reference. I see how much there is to it and I have so much to learn and test. I am having a bunch of ideas pop up but so far none of my ideas come close to KJ's free strategy when doing backtesting. if that one is free I wonder how good the ideas are that you have to pay to get. My goal is to have somewhere around 10 tradeable strategies that all have very robust returns so that I can diversify and achieve superior returns.
One day I dream of quitting my job and managing algos full time. that would be heaven for me. I need as much help as possible. I learned after two years of failure that discretionary trading is out for me. Too many variables to keep track of. I need to keep it super simple.
I posted this elsewhere but I am trying to figure something out and need a little help.
I would like to learn how to write code that would check to see how many trades have been taken this month or this year or this day. I have instances where what I am testing requires a trade counter to eliminate taking trades after the initial signal failed.
For instance, in plain english...
if total trades this month = 0 then begin
or
if total trades this year <=3 then begin
or
if total trades today <=4 then begin
This would be very useful as it puts a limit on how much you could lose in a given year, month, day.
